changedIt's been a while! I'd like to apologize for my lack of announcements here. Because even if Super Gear Quest is a complete game, I've still had more plans for it! I've just been hard at work on Kewtia Crystallite Hunt , my next game and the 3D platformer I talked about in my previous announcement... So as a solo developer, finding the time to return to Super Gear Quest is a challenge!
fixedUpdate DetailsThis also means many dialogue changes, many cutscenes are (overall) slightly shorter, and some scenes are getting big changes. Some lore/story inconsistencies are also being fixed. Important dialogue is mostly staying, but the new writing is a bit more to the point.
addedUpdate DetailsThe other thing is the save system, as I'm completely changing how Super Gear Quest handles saving, which will allow for handy features such as cloud saves! The old system was a very limited (although functional) way to do it, but this new system should improve things a lot. It will make it easier to back up and edit your saves, too!
addedUpdate DetailsPlus, if you already played the game before this, I plan to have old save files integrate into this new system. So you should be able to keep your progress as well, once the time comes!
addedWhy?I've grown a lot as a developer in the years since I released Super Gear Quest, so I think the new writing is a significant step up from the older versions. In many ways my quality standards have also continued to go up. So I'm making many other changes too, but I have to be a bit reasonable with time management in mind... The new dialogue and save system are the main things!
addedWhy?In fact, if you already played Super Gear Quest before, the new writing and other changes will make it worth replaying on it's own. And if you haven't played it yet, it'd be a great time to do so! So I really recommend giving it a shot once it's out!

Hi everyone!

It's been a while! I'd like to apologize for my lack of announcements here. Because even if Super Gear Quest is a complete game, I've still had more plans for it! I've just been hard at work on Kewtia Crystallite Hunt, my next game and the 3D platformer I talked about in my previous announcement... And by the way, Kewtia has gotten a ton of progress and is going relatively well. You can still play the demo for it if you'd like (although I plan to update the demo again, as it's pretty outdated at the time of writing this haha) and join our Discord if you're interested in seeing more of the development yourself!

The reason I wanted to make this announcement though, is because I took a break from Kewtia recently and got back to Super Gear Quest! I've been working on a pretty substantial update for the game, which I'll detail below!

Update Details

The coming update gives the story some pretty big changes (and a lot of rewrites). It's not complete, but in short it fixes some genuine gripes I had with it, strengthens some of the weaker parts of the story, and makes it flow a lot better so far!

This also means many dialogue changes, many cutscenes are (overall) slightly shorter, and some scenes are getting big changes. Some lore/story inconsistencies are also being fixed. Important dialogue is mostly staying, but the new writing is a bit more to the point.

The other thing is the save system, as I'm completely changing how Super Gear Quest handles saving, which will allow for handy features such as cloud saves! The old system was a very limited (although functional) way to do it, but this new system should improve things a lot. It will make it easier to back up and edit your saves, too!

Plus, if you already played the game before this, I plan to have old save files integrate into this new system. So you should be able to keep your progress as well, once the time comes!

Why?

I've grown a lot as a developer in the years since I released Super Gear Quest, so I think the new writing is a significant step up from the older versions. In many ways my quality standards have also continued to go up. So I'm making many other changes too, but I have to be a bit reasonable with time management in mind... The new dialogue and save system are the main things!

In fact, if you already played Super Gear Quest before, the new writing and other changes will make it worth replaying on it's own. And if you haven't played it yet, it'd be a great time to do so! So I really recommend giving it a shot once it's out!

Anyways, that's all for this announcement. I don't want to make promises on when the update is coming out, but for now I'm happy to announce it's progressing. See you then!
