Guide: Clean Reinstallation of SubwaySim 2 for Startup Issues or Crashes

If SubwaySim 2 no longer starts or crashes immediately after an update or after installing a DLC, this is often caused by outdated files that Steam has not fully removed, or by incompatible mods.

If SubwaySim 2 no longer starts or crashes immediately after an update or after installing a DLC, this is often caused by outdated files that Steam has not fully removed, or by incompatible mods.

In this case, please perform a complete clean reinstallation:

Uninstall the game via Steam

Open Steam, go to your Library, right-click SubwaySim 2 and select:

  • Manage → Uninstall

  • Wait until Steam has completed the uninstall process.

Delete remaining game files

After that, go to your Steam installation directory:

  • C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\SubwaySim 2

  • If the SubwaySim 2 folder is still there, delete it completely.

Delete local game data

Next, open the following folder:

  • C:\\Users\\User\\AppData\\Local

  • Delete the folder: SubwaySim 2

Note: Replace [c]User[/c] with your Windows username. If you cannot see the AppData folder, enable hidden items in Windows Explorer.

Remove all mods

Then go to the following folder:

  • C:\\Users\\User\\Documents\\My Games\\SubwaySim 2

  • Delete all mods there, or delete the entire contents of the SubwaySim 2 folder.

  • Again, replace [c]User[/c] with your Windows username.

Reinstall the game

Reinstall SubwaySim 2 via Steam.

Important: Start the game without any mods after reinstalling. Only add mods back one by one after the game starts correctly, and check whether they are still compatible.

If the game still crashes after this, please send us your system specs as well as any available crash or log files, so we can investigate the issue further.
