Hello Striatum Gamers!

It's has been amazing to see you all enjoying Striatum post-release. We've learned so much and had so much fun watching players experience our game. This was our first full game, and we learned so much along the way.

We are excited for you to play and enjoy this update, and we hope to bring additional small updates to Striatum as we move into full development on our next game. Please read ahead for the update notes.

UPDATE 1.1 NOTES

CONTENT

  • 3 new apps for your phone!

    • Wish you had an easier time remembering the things you thought about? With Cloudynote, the new note taking app, you'll have an automatic log of everything you think about during your run. How did we do it? Don't worry about it, it's fine, okay?

    • Getting tired of those troublesome notifications always getting in the way. For the low low price of having seen a lot of them, you can unlock the new Notification Blocker app. While we'd hate for you to miss out on important notifications, if you can navigate this apps menus, you can turn off notifications for the rest of your run. But don't worry, you can turn them back on easily at any time.

    • Love music but hate not being able to choose? Swim the wide open seas of music with Tuner Fish Music Selector, you can select from any of the 3 songs currently in the game! Wow! The possibilities are endless.

  • 15 new ending events to discover. You gotta look! I believe in you though!

  • 2 new quests. Something to do with clothes, and like, something that clothes can go in? Sorry, I forget...

  • 50 new random notifications to see. Wow aren't those notifications funny?!

  • 4 new pieces of art on the walls of the apartment. Wow, it's like a museum in here!

QOL

  • The players viewpoint can now be adjusted by moving the mouse wheel up and down.

  • The left and right sides of the how to play window can now be clicked to move through the pages.

  • Notifications are no longer placed under the timer for most of the game.

  • There is now a return to title screen button in the options menu.

  • Clicking the back button on the text app while on the contact screen now returns you to the phones home screen.

CHANGES

  • 6 new item categories have been added into the game, to increase variety and reduce the use of the misc category as much as possible (who doesn't love Misc. items am I right?). The new categories are decorations, games, trash, electronics, home goods, and stationery.

  • 1 item name has been changed.

  • 1 quest item has been made easier to find.

  • Changed some item and quest descriptions for additional clarity.

  • Added some additional conditional player messages for quest hints.

  • Player messages now fade slightly slower.

  • Cut one ending event that had enough overlap with another as to be redundant.

  • Adjusted points balancing of some ending events.

  • The spawn timing of random notifications has been slightly altered, as well as intensified.

POLISH

  • Descriptions have been added to all items that did not have one.

  • Honking sound effect during last 10 seconds now stops if the player ends the game during that time.

  • Added a missing sound effect to an item.

  • Corrected a few typos.

  • Slightly adjusted some item positions in the world for polish reasons.

BUG-FIXES

  • The game will no longer crash at exactly 10000 steps taken by the player.

  • The inventory now cleared the previously viewed item info when exiting the inventory with the inventory shortcut buttons.

  • The speed line shader variables are now being reset properly after each run and will no longer become the way that they were.

  • The intensity of the final speed line shader variable update of each run has been significantly lowered.

  • The clock apps time now properly updates.

  • 2 of the same quest item will now no longer spawn.

  • The back button in the text message app now is fully clickable.

  • The shader setting slider in the options screen can now be fully clicked and dragged.

  • Fixed an animation bug with the viewpoint adjustment buttons on the UI.

  • Fixed a bug where certain setting changes weren't being saved.

Currently we are aware of a visual bug affecting certain players using very large and ultra-wide monitors caused by the CRT shader used that causes an unpleasant checkerboard pattern when going from full-screen to windowed mode. We do not have a fix at this time and unfortunately for now must recommend turning off the CRT shader if you are playing on a very large monitor. We hope to find and implement a more proper solution for this in the future, and thank you for your patience.

Thank you again to all of you for playing Striatum, please enjoy the update, and have a great day!
