Steel Swarm: SURVIVOR changes
⚡ Update Overview
Welcome to patch 2026.6.3! This patch introduces a new feature that is going to impact the gameplay immensely: vehicle driving! Every raid now has a chance to contain one or more different vehicles, as well as some fuel. The vehicles can be used in many ways. Some are fast and allow the player to traverse the map quickly while others are slow yet sturdy, allowing the player to crush through enemy lines. Additionally, this patch also updates two of the previous levels to improve the visual clarity as well as making the gameplay more in line with driving. Lastly, we have a few weapon changes to further improve the balance to give more options to the players instead of limiting the viable choices.
🤖 Vehicle Driving
Every raid now has a chance to contain drivable vehicles. Some raids have them all the time on designated spots on the map such as near a road while the other raids have them randomly laying around.
Players first need to gather some fuel to be able to drive. The more fuel a player has, the longer they can drive.
Every vehicle has different fuel consumption. Some of them are more efficient and thus, can go longer distances with same amount of fuel.
While driving, the vehicle takes all the damage that the player character would have taken. If the vehicle reaches 0 hit points, it explodes and becomes unusable.
While driving, the player’s own weapons can’t be used. Instead, vehicles deal damage to enemies by crushing into them. Heavier vehicles deal more damage and take less damage in return.
🔧 New Level Layouts
“Lighthouse” and “Campers’ Hill” levels have been rebuilt with enhanced graphics and redesigned level layouts.
“Campers Hill” now has a new mission objective, similar to the old one.
“Campers Hill” now has “pursuit” enemies. These are new enemies that only appear while the player is driving a vehicle. They are faster than normal enemies and can catch up to the vehicles.
🎯 Gameplay and Balance
Reduced the Armor Penetration value of “Las Cannon.”
Reduced the damages of "Las Cannon" and "Slugshot."
Reduced the Area of Effect Range of "Slugshot" and "Rocker Launcher."
Increased the Cooling Duration of all weapons in “Fixed” position.
🛠️ Improvements and Known Issues
Fix memory leak when players switched between levels.
Improved network reliability.
There is a known issue that sometimes prevents players from getting rewards in multiplayer.
There is a known issue that prevents players from playing multiplayer if neither of them has unlocked the second playable character.
🚀 Final Notes
This update is the first in line that aims to rebuild the demo levels. We will continue to enhance each level with better graphics and more interesting and interactive layouts. The addition of drivable vehicles also opens many new approaches to level design and gameplay. We are excited to see how the payers will utilize this new tool to outmaneuver the swarm. Start your engines Survivors, the swarm is closing in.
