Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! changes
For those on their path to citizenship, the Federation salutes you! Our latest patch brings various bug fixes, optimizations and tweaks, alongside changes that mean Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is now officially Steam Deck verified!
We’ve seen all of you fighting back against the Arachnids, and our FedDev-approved team has been working alongside, to make sure our patch helps to improve battlefield performance!
Whether you’re taking to the fight on the big screen or putting the mobile in Mobile Infantry, the Federation thanks each and every one of you for your service! In today’s deployment you can find:
Addition
Added a new secret for speed-running Troopers
Fixes
Improvements to NPC AI to avoid them becoming stuck inside or under walls and floors (predominantly for the Assassin Bug)
Violin achievement altered to allow the player to collect without having to lose health
Guided missiles now correctly award Fedscore for kills
Fixed issues with the Player-controlled Assassin Bug not colliding with (and damaging) targets correctly
Stopped the Assassin Bug’s flight visual effects from triggering when not flying
Running over the Morita Carbine while carrying the MK1 Morita now correctly collects the ammunition
AI Bugs now correctly target Mechanical Bipeds while in the self-destruct state
Fixed Taunting detection that should help Troopers to attain the Collect Them All achievement
Fixed audio stuttering on lower-end hardware
Fixed the Battle Chatter audio slider not correctly adjusting volume
Tweaks
Limited the Tanker Bug’s Shake attack to Veteran and Citizen difficulty only (as well as reducing cooldown and damage, slightly)
Improvements to Player-controlled Assassin Bug obstacle avoidance
Improvements to the Player-controlled Assassin Bug Dive Bomb ability and collision with targets
Balancing for AI damage on Recruit difficulty
AI tweaks to help enemies to target the player more effectively
Performance optimizations for Flak Bugs, Plasma Bugs and other enemies.
Removed a barrier in Operation Graveyard that the Player could not fit underneath
UI and Visual Changes
We’ve deployed an Accessibility option to allow Troopers to move the Active Reload UI from the corner, to just below the crosshair
Text size increases and improvements to improve readability (including FMV subtitles)
New prompt for Tactical support loading screen tips
Added ammo types, weapon names and icons to the weapon switching UI
Fixed a misspelling on the White Phosphorus tactical support pickup
Fixed the “Press any Button to Start” text not appearing on the title screen
Visual improvements for the Quiet Hell secret
Added new effects to lights surrounding fire visuals
Fixed an issue with gate assets appearing distant even while up close
Various minor visual issues (effects being visual when they shouldn’t, being overly-pixelated, flickering etc.)
Optimizations
Altered compression settings to reduce VRAM usage
General mesh and texture optimizations
