Below, we’re showcasing new features introduced alongside Update 1. If you’d like to read the full patch notes for the update, please scroll down the news.
We’ve mentioned some new playable areas, right? Even more ground to cover? What were we thinking?!
If you don’t want to complete your daily steps on Arcadia-7, we’ve got something that will help you traverse vast regions - apart from the teleporter we hope you remember about! - in style! This new invention is the Zipline!
The Zipline works similarly to Drone Rails - but you’ll be the precious cargo zipping through its fast lines, and not the resources! You’ll be able to set up your own Zipline net with many Zipline Poles and traverse in any direction on the Zipline track you want. It’s great for travelling fast and sightseeing at the same time.
You should definitely try building some wicked race tracks for them to compete with your buddies!
If you've already launched the Forgotten Engine, you're probably wondering what will happen next. If you haven’t, you’d better start producing those Power Cells!
Update 1 will allow you to venture into uncharted territory beyond radiation. So make sure you have room in your inventory for new discoveries during your exploration.
This means new Abandoned Bases to search, new Antennas to unlock, new caves to venture, and even more places to harvest your precious resources from, and more space to expand with your advanced factories.
Update 1 also includes additional foundables, new dialogues, audiologs & datapads, which will give you more insights into the lore of StarRupture.
An expanded map will reveal new resource types - Goethite & Powerium - which you will be able to find in the new areas.
New resources require new technology for harvesting them and sending them further down the line for processing.
Oil Extractor - used to extract Powerium. Can be placed only on Powerium deposits.
Refinery - refines raw Powerium into Products.
Laser Drill - used to extract advanced ores. Can be placed only on Goethite deposits.
Pyro Forge - refines raw Goethite into Products.
The new map and resources, as well as new buildings added in Update 1, required us to revise the good old Corporate Terminal! We concentrated on improving progression flow of Corporations and reward redistribution, as well as added new levels and unlockables. All these adjustments ultimately grew into quite a serious overhaul, and in order to make it work in a living and breathing game, we had to make an uncomfortable choice.
IMPORTANT! With the Update 1 launch:
All Corporation Levels are rolled back to Level 1
Your progress has been restored as Data Points
You can distribute the received Data Points in the Corporate Terminal to unlock new Corporation Levels and rewards.
New resources and new Corporation Levels require new technology improvements in your factory! With Update 1, you will be able to unlock new buildings:
Constructorizer (Production) - an advanced production building. Utilizing nanoscale printing to make Products.
Facturer (Production) - an advanced production building. Utilizes high-speed machining to make Products.
Chemical Generator (Power) - an advanced power generator. Burns chemicals from the atmosphere to create electricity.
Roundabout Rail Connector (Junctions) - a connection for Drone Rails. Allows for the splitting and expanding of their paths in a more organized way.
Development Station (Progression) - A station located inside a Habitat. Used to unlock improved versions of buildings.
Recycler (Personal Crafting) - a station located inside a Habitat. Recycles items into Basic Building Materials and/or Intermediate Building Materials.
The newest invention from the Moon Energy Corporation enables you to elevate your buildings to the next level. Thanks to the Development Station, you will be able to upgrade selected buildings and machines to their higher-tier and more heavy-duty versions.
Among the upgraded Buildings, you will be able to unlock, among others, Larger Personal Storage, Large Habitat, Ore Excavator v.2, and even Orbital Cargo Launcher v.2.
The world of Arcadia-7 is a treacherous world torn by the constant fire bursts from the Ruptura star. But despite the danger and catastrophic waves of fire, nature always finds its way. The foliage regrows, water replenishes, and the planet rises from its ashes each time the Ruptura Star calms. What new should you encounter in a living, breathing world? No ecosystem is complete without native animals and critters! We are very excited to introduce you to Arcadia-7’s new wild fauna.
With Update 1, Vulpir, Corallion, and Skylisk are going to share the planet with you. As most shy and peaceful creatures, they will most probably try to run away from you and hide when necessary, as they are not used to newcomers to their world.
And yes, for the fans of alien cuisine, that also means we will have new consumables in the game.
Progression Rollback
With Update 1, all Corporation Levels are rolled back to Level 1 and your progress from before the update will be restored as Data Points.
You can distribute the received Data Points in the Corporate Terminal to quickly unlock Corporation Levels and new Rewards.
All previously unlocked and built Buildings will remain on the map and will remain operational.
But you won’t be able to build them again without first unlocking them in the Corporate Terminal or the Development Station.
Some mechanics that were previously available at the start of the game are now locked behind certain Corporation Levels, such as Walkway and Dash.
The Pistol is no longer available as a Corporation Level reward.
You'll be able to craft it in the Equipment Upgrade Station, along with other weapons.
In the case of death, you'll lose all weapons you're carrying, including the Pistol. So, you need to watch your vitals and health more closely.
The Teleporter is now a Corporation Reward
You can now unlock the Teleporter by achieving the corresponding Corporate level - you won't need to launch the Forgotten Engine to receive it anymore.
Quartz is no longer a Building Material
In Update 1, all Quartz spent on buildings will be returned to your inventory as Quartz Ores.
Any old Quartz Building Materials you still keep in your Inventory or Personal Storage can no longer be used for building, but you can recycle them into Quartz Ores - without loss - in the Recycler.
You can then use these Ores at the Development Station to unlock new, upgraded buildings.
Buildings that previously required Quartz Building Materials are now included in the Base Core Overheat Capacity - so build them wisely.
Cargo Dispatcher/Receiver Rework
With Update 1, the Cargo Dispatcher & Receiver mechanics have been reworked. Now they can only be connected one-to-one.
One Cargo Dispatcher will work with a single chosen Cargo Receiver!
Previously existing connections will no longer work and will need to be manually reconnected.
You no longer need to set the size of parcels. The Cargo Dispatcher will automatically pack and send materials to its Cargo Receiver every 20 seconds.
Blueprints changes
From now on, when you pick up a blueprint that you've found previously, you'll receive an Item with Data Points - no more duplicate blueprints in the blueprints tab!
Blueprints previously available in the Forgotten Engine have now changed their location.
Changes in recipes
Individual recipes have changed:
Nanofibre - an additional third component has been added: Wolfram Wire.
Pressure Tank - one component has been removed: Titanium Housing.
Condenser - one component has been removed: Synthetic Resin.
Superconductor - one component has been changed; instead of Ceramics, Synthetic Resin is now required.
In addition, production time and required items have been rebalanced in various recipes.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
Finishing the Forgotten Engine mission will now remove the radiation border and grant you access to brand new areas, enriching your gameplay with:
- New Resources and Harvesting Machines
- New Points of Interest to explore
- More places to build your advanced factories
- And most importantly: more fun!
Along with the new content, Update 1 also brings a multitude of fixes and improvements based on the feedback you’ve provided us via our official support page, the Steam forum, and our official Reddit & Discord communities.
