Version 1.5.0

Staged: Open House has officially migrated to the latest version of Unreal Engine 5.8. I've also added some optimizations and quality of life improvements.

This update includes:

  • Migrated to UE 5.8. The main benefit being Lumen Lite when selecting medium GI Quality. Playing on lower end computers should now look/play better.

  • Changed the settings menu order and adjusted the default settings. The default settings are balanced between performance and quality. If you have an RTX 3060 or above, you should be ok with high/epic settings, otherwise Medium will run better.

  • Optimized scalability settings.

  • Adjusted lighting and shadows.

  • I found an error on the jammed tap scene. This has been fixed.

  • Some people get confused as to how to place the trash bags. I've made it even easier now. The green glow does not disappear until you finish.

  • Added a green translucent glow where you need to place the fuses.

  • Increased quality of player mesh for first person scenes where you see Franks hands.

  • Optimizations to level streaming and some triggers, especially with the basement.

  • In the basement there is a TV on a cabinet. When you walk closer to it, you can see a small graphical glitch, the switching of the LOD making it look like it is turning on/off (a red light appears/disappears). I have adjusted LOD's for this TV to fix this.

  • Added some particles.

  • Small bug fixes.

As mentioned in the last update, this will likely be the final major patch for the demo as my focus shifts entirely towards the full game, unless any major issues pop up. Thanks again for all the support!

Quick Hotfix Update

  • I have recently released a few silent updates to try and fix a problem where the outside area wasn't displaying and appeared black. I am unable to replicate this issue on my end, but it happens to some people (I've watched streams). This has hopefully been fixed now. I'll continue to keep an eye on it.

  • Added a toggle for the fish eye effect.

  • Added a save for the cinematic side of subtitles (If you toggle subtitles, the cinematic subtitles will stay on/off when you quit and play again).

  • Added a slight delay before cutscenes play to give some time to load.
