What changed
- Gameplay
We are back with a couple more demo tweaks, this time with some changes in the storyline itself.
Since this is the intro to the whole world of Split Decision, we wanted to make the story more "in your face", which means starting the game with more higher-stakes fights that will in a way announce on what is to come next (spoilers: even higher stakes!). This also means adding more reoccurring fighters like Naughty Bobby Neville, whom we'll hope you will love as much as we do.
There are also a lot of updates to character sprites and background images. There was a lot of sprite cleanup and animation to be done, as we discussed in the previous devlog. The main backgrounds (player's home and Cally's) were also cleaned up and their resolutions were scaled to 50% of the original size, making them look less detailed. Next we will try to make the boxers' sprites in the same low-res resolution to fit the style. It is also prime time to make special sprites for the "character" boxers like Naughty Neville and the Foreman.
We are also currently working on making a "log" of all previous choices and conversations with the characters. This should be a way for players to better weigh the choices and to keep up with the characters and, in a way, to know close they are to making the choice that will end their run altogether.
Story-wise, we are working on the branching storyline, which means the demo updates might happen again in the near future. In the meantime, we would love for you to try out the new version and let us know what you think! Is the pace good, should it be quicker, or maybe slower?
