In the warm waters of the southern ocean, among enormous corals and shipwrecks, dwells the Patterner—a large, domed creature with tentacles, covered in luminous patterns, as if drawn by an unknown artist.

These patterns are not static: they shimmer and change, forming bizarre signs and symbols. A madman who saw Scaurus's sword in the depths said that the Patterner is the eyes and ears of the Nameless One, left to watch over the Sphere. Thanks to them, he knows exactly whom to leave behind during his return.

Erikurian mages who have studied the Patterner have noted that it is simply a deep-sea creature that is deadly to humans. Its tentacles contain a poison that instantly paralyzes the unfortunate. The patterns do not shimmer, but merely create an illusion due to the refraction of light in the water.
