Space Farmers 2 changes
We're gearing up for the next demo, which should be with us within the next week or so.
Last week we had a great session at the Steam Games Festival with some brilliant questions. Thanks for joining in!
Let's re-answer some of those questions here:
1. Why the move to 2D?
This was motivated by a number of issues:
While the projection was 3D for SF1, the gameplay took place on a 2D plane.
There's a lot of additional puzzle and action elements we can achieve in 2D
Very few of the mechanics couldn't be ported over to 2D
We have a great 2D artist who did the original Space Farmers 1 poster working with us
2. Will the Pig Return?
Yes! The pig will definitely return. Check out previous update for more information on that.
3. Will there be challenge rooms like the end of a SF1 run?
Absolutely, but we want to take this even further. I don't want to spoil it too much but we expect to have an announcement about that in the next few weeks once the next demo is released.
4. What will the story be for Space Farmers 2?
The story this time (although it's subject to change) is that the space farmers are stranded on the Giga-factory owned by the mega corporation "Pan Meals Galactic". This factory turns innocent vegetables into canned foods. Steve and Thomas, with their new friend Sim'n Cucumber, have decided to set them all free and escape the factory.
Throughout the factory you'll notice a number of "inspirational" corporate signage. Check out the examples below:
The head of the factory is The Great Leek who will be sending his masses of evil vegetables and robots against you.
Finally...
That's all for this week, stay tuned for the next update and (hopefully soon) demo!
As always please tell your friends, follow us on twitter, help us spread the word about the game. We appreciate all the help we can get!
