Where did the fabricators come from and how do you defeat them?

When the robots first arrived, these massive manufacturing hubs were used to produce commercial and consumer drones for trade and communications. Within a year they were retrofitted for war.

Break down the fabricator shields to shred the behemoth piece by piece until the last gear. But be careful, Space Cowboy. Poking the nest will rile the swarm. Destroying the outer shields for any segment of the fabricator will send that segment into a frenzy, spewing an endless swarm of enemies. Be strategic and methodical, and don't bite off more than you can chew.
