Hello everyone! Before I start I want to thank you so much for playing Soulslinger. This game has a special place in my heart since it's my first true solo project. I unfortunately could not deliver what I was expecting due to the developement process being rushed and tough, mostly because of my mental state at the time. And now here I am, finally ready with an update!

So without further ado, here's the changelog;

Let's start with the new content:

  • Added three new guns (soulblasters), which can be purchased and selected before a run;

  • The Witch's Hut is a new shop that can be accessed before a run, like the Hat Shop;

  • Added ten cards, which allows to start a run with a specific blessing. The cards can be purchased and selected in the Witch's Hut;

  • The Witch can now be unlocked as a playable character;

  • Now some enemies can appear in the next stage with new sprite variants;

  • New pillar obstacles were added;

  • Added two new enemies in Grim Woods;

  • Treasure chests now have a chance to spawn. Opening them gives coins or a pie;

  • Added a new background saturation option;

  • A new "Gameplay" button was added in main menu which contains a new tutorial section alongside the game controls.

Now to the major changes:

  • Soulblaster ammo now slowly regenerates by itself, allowing for more chances to use the gun;

  • The level speed now slightly increases over time depending on the difficulty level;

  • Changed how enemies and obstacles spawn, so now it should have less empty space between "chunks";

  • Endless mode was completely remade;

  • Collecting more than eight blessings in endless mode now replaces them from left to right;

  • Added a percentage indicator along with the level progression bar;

  • The Bullet Reaper blessing is now weaker, it only destroy one bullet per scythe attack;

  • The Pierce blessing no longer slows down the shot after hitting an obstacle;

  • Some Soul Gardens enemies were resprited;

  • Added a new animation for the wraith (hooded enemy in Soul Gardens), so now it's easier to see when it'll attack;

  • Now bosses (except the second and final) drop coins;

  • Stronger bullets now deal significantly less damage to bosses;

  • The first and second boss got their health increased;

  • Blessing shrines now have two main blessings instead of just one;

  • The rifle skin is no longer secret and can be selected among the other soulblasters.

  • Now hats can be selected in the Hat Shop;

  • Main menu button "Controls" was changed to "Gameplay";

  • A new endless mode leaderboard was created for this update, and the original is now renamed to "Endless High Score (Old)".

Bug fixes:

  • Many pause-related issues;

  • Sometimes an obstacle breaking sound could be heard at the start of a level;

  • Collected coins would not save correctly;

  • A lot of smaller bugs.

I have been working on this update for almost six months now. There's still some stuff that I would like to add in the future, but for now that's it! Thank you again for playing, I really hope that you like the update and that it makes Soulslinger a better game.
