addedSoulcast will be featured at Steam Next Fest, from 9 -16 October , and on that occasion we have big news to share! After months of hard work, we are finally ready to unveil what we have been up to all this time. We present to you: Expeditions , a brand-new game mode featuring procedural dungeons, PvP and PvE gameplay and a whole host of AI enemies. So without further ado, let’s dive into it.
changedWhat are Expeditions?Expeditions are essentially a dungeon mode where players band together in raiding parties with other adventurers to venture into a vast labyrinth of passages and interconnected chambers, deep below the surface of Abaddon. These environments are procedurally generated, combining different types of rooms and random enemy spawn points to create unpredictability.
changedWhat are Expeditions? As players slowly make their way through the dungeon, they never know what lies in store for them in the next chamber. It could be loot and consumables, but it could also be a room full of lethal traps or a swarm of bloodthirsty creatures with an appetite for careless explorers. And if that wasn’t enough, there is the constant danger of ambushes from rival teams, turning the gameplay from simple PvE Coop into full-fledged PvPvE.
changedHow do Expeditions work? The goal of an expedition is simple: make loot. How exactly you approach this, is up to you and your team: Do you want to play it safe by slaying some smaller monsters and clearing some of the outer rooms before heading to the next exit? Or do you dare to venture ever deeper to find the central chamber, a place rumoured to be filled to the brim with ancient artefacts, powerful weapons and magic-infused gemstones? Both options are viable, but as you would expect, increased rewards come with a higher risk: Like every self-respecting treasure room, the central chamber is guarded by a boss that needs to be defeated first. So get your teamwork going, flex your skills and show that boss who is boss. Once you have what you came for, the only thing left to do is getting out of the dungeon through one of several exits.
addedHow do Expeditions work? This is all for now, we hope you are going to give this new mode a try! For the duration of the Steam Next Fest Stay from 9 -16 October , the servers will be open around around the clock for you to test the Expeditions mode or jump into PvP via our overhauled lobby. As you log into the game you will notice that there have been a lot of improvements to the game, including a much more detailed character creator which allows you to choose different hair styles, beards and eye colours.
changedHow do Expeditions work?We have implemented a lot more changes, so we invite you to stay tuned for more news, including a detailed look on features like procedural levels, the types of AI enemies and bosses awaiting you in the depths and the looting system that will reward players for their adventurousness.
