Hey all y'all cool cats patiently waiting for the EA release! Sophonce (Version 0.310) is releasing next month on August 19th! There are a lot of updates and improvements to the game that have been made thanks to the community. I couldn't have been more grateful to you all for all the support and constructive criticism you have given me and I hope the improvements shown in Sophonce reflect my gratitude. The EA version will be released with just the Prologue and Chapter 1. This should take you around an hour or longer to complete depending on your skill level! You could always go back and replay the game with different choices to see different dialogue outcomes. The weight of your choices will become apparent in the later chapters though! The price will be 3.99 USD for the initial release and will increase as more content is added. There is around 1/3 of the content present in the EA version so that is why it is at a lower than expected price.

changedOptimized the game to the best of my ability! I'm confident a lot of lower-tier GPUs (like a 4060) can run this game pretty well at around the 60 fps mark at 1440p with DLSS @ Quality. I also optimized the size of the game as well.
added16:10 and 21:9 resolution support has been added in addition to the default 16:9 support.
addedDLSS 4 and FSR 3 have been added with their included frame-generation counterparts!
changedUpdated the game from UE 5.1 to UE 5.5 which substantially mitigates a lot of the shader compilation stutters.

I plan to release Chapter 2 sometime late next year and Chapter 3 + the Epilogue should release the year after if everything goes smoothly with no delays! Chapter 2 is a lot more focused on horror with close combat action and Chapter 3 will have a mini open-world format so that players can fully explore Poseidon.

Here are some of the improvements:

  2. 16:10 and 21:9 resolution support has been added in addition to the default 16:9 support.

  3. DLSS 4 and FSR 3 have been added with their included frame-generation counterparts!

  4. Updated the game from UE 5.1 to UE 5.5 which substantially mitigates a lot of the shader compilation stutters.

  5. All gunplay has been tweaked based on feedback so now it should feel pretty solid. This includes the firing spread!

  6. Melee and a weak pistol with infinite ammo have been added so if the player runs out of ammo they still have a way to fight back and subsequently get more primary ammo.

  7. The game is also substantially more polished than its demo counterpart.

  8. Fixed an army of bugs that I and others have found while playing.

  9. Tweaked the difficulty to be more forgiving! I added a very hard difficulty called "Royal Protector" for anyone feeling confident to test their mastery of the combat system.

  10. The game should feel awesome with the mouse and keyboard. I am still working on ironing out the controller mechanics but it is definitely fully playable. Hopefully, controller mechanics will be fully developed by the Chapter 2 update. I want the controller mechanics to feel as good as it does in Halo.

Those are all of the quality of life improvements I can think of from the top of my head. There are a lot more improvements/features that are unlisted but I will let the game do the talking instead :). I'll be busy wrapping things up until release but I will be checking this page regularly and try to get back to you all in a timely manner!
