Songs of Glimmerwick changes
This devlog covers two topics:
One is our world first design philosophy, where we put the world and sense of place before anything, including mechanics. This is backwards from the way most games are designed, but we like to think it's the unique DNA that makes our games unique. It's the philosophy we used to make our previous title Eastshade, and we are approaching Glimmerwick the same way.
The other is our approach to time in Glimmerwick. Time freezes during events, and every evening. We feel it relieves the time pressure felt in most farming sims, but still offers the ebb and flow of days and seasons, and offers us (the designers) more narrative and tonal control than the constant night day cycle common RPGs.
