We're back!

Greetings Wielders! Lavapotion is back from our summer adventures. Alright, to be fair, around half of us are not, since not everyone took the same weeks off, but still, we’re back!

addedNow, I won’t give you a new roadmap or anything just yet. I’m being intentionally vague, but not for mysterious reasons. We simply don’t want to promise things and then not deliver on them. But there is still plenty of news and things to share!
changedI won’t go into all the details of the corporate back and forth, but the simplest way of putting it is that we’ve taken over the management and support of Songs of Conquest Mobile. It will be a lot of work, but it’s our game, and we want to make sure it’s fun to play regardless of where you play it. Can we guarantee a fast success? No, not really, but we are off to a good start. But this is a Steam post, mostly for Steam users, so you deserve some non-console news as well. There will be plenty happening over the coming months, with balancing, Wielder updates, and other improvements. We want to spend some time polishing and improving Songs of Conquest as a whole.
addedAnd that’s about it for this update. There’s plenty of housecleaning to do, a few new things on the way, and more we’ll be able to talk about later. It feels great to be back, and we’re eager to get to work. And I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t share some more amazing pictures from the art book, like this early version of the Bacahorse.

Lavapotion is back from our summer adventures. Alright, to be fair, around half of us are not, since not everyone took the same weeks off, but still, we’re back! Some of us went swimming, others fought battles with foam swords, but back at the office things have started off nicely. Everyone played some Songs of Conquest, we went through the bug reports from the weeks we were away, and did some initial planning for the months ahead. Steam post image

Now, I won’t give you a new roadmap or anything just yet. I’m being intentionally vague, but not for mysterious reasons. We simply don’t want to promise things and then not deliver on them. But there is still plenty of news and things to share!

First things first, we’re not announcing any big DLCs. We’ve got plenty of things we want to do with what we already have, and our resources are limited. We only have so many hands to write code with, after all.

About half the team is hard at work on Wielders of the Essence, wrapping up that project. It deserves its own post later, so we’ll get to that. Suffice to say, we’ve gotten a lot of great feedback from the demo testers, and it’s a damn fun spin-off project to work on. It’s also nice to do something slightly different for some of the crew who have worked tirelessly on Songs of Conquest for the last, oh, say, nine years.

Wielders of the Essence

We also have a bunch of things that have been, well, I won’t say neglected because that’s an ugly word, but perhaps haven’t gotten the priority they deserve. One of those is consoles.

So one of our goals right now is making sure Songs of Conquest is up to speed and aligned across all consoles and platforms. And now some of you might say, “Yeah right, he couldn’t possibly mean mobile.”

Well, I do mean all platforms!

I won’t go into all the details of the corporate back and forth, but the simplest way of putting it is that we’ve taken over the management and support of Songs of Conquest Mobile. It will be a lot of work, but it’s our game, and we want to make sure it’s fun to play regardless of where you play it. Can we guarantee a fast success? We also have some news for all the art lovers out there. This is something that has been requested pretty much since we started releasing our DLCs: we’re updating the art book!

Songs of Conquest Digital Artbook

For everyone who already owns it, that means a major update. And for those who haven’t picked it up yet, well, there will simply be a lot more of it when you do. We're talking close to 50 extra pages, or thereabouts; work is, as they say, ongoing. But I thought I'd share some of them with you right here, just to get a beautiful feel for them.
