SongRunner changes
I'm a solo dev and after working on a few small tutorial projects and game jams, this is only my second Steam release ahhhhh so seeing any number of players jumping in to the game and leaving their impressions (or not!) brings me great joy.
I know a lot of devs will take their demo down after Next Fest, so I just wanted to say that this version of the SongRunner demo will stay available for at least several weeks after Next Fest ends. It's very possible that I create a new demo in the future and replace this one, but I currently don't have a timeline for that. Whatever my timeline winds up being, I'll almost certainly continue to have a demo available through release and beyond, because I think this game's funky control scheme definitely deserves to be tested before you decide to buy it.
I also just wanted to leave a short list of (some) features I'm planning on including as I head toward full release, which I'm very lightly planning for later in 2026.
fully rebindable inputs
MIDI input support
more of... well everything. i have a lot of ideas for fun level mechanics, and of course every new level needs another song to go with it.
and a couple things I'm still deciding on:
a custom level builder, including support for any song you want
a way to export or share a solution you've made to a level since you can make some pretty neat bops
personally, i frickin love when a platformer game has an overworld that you can freely walk around in and there are cute lil secrets and stuff to find 👀
finally, a lot more polish. this is a very early demo. my goal was to have a handful levels together in order to get some impressions from others on this relatively unique music+platforming gameplay mechanic, and I've learned a lot over the past couple weeks.
Thanks again for checking out SongRunner! I'm so excited to get back to work and make this thing as good as it can be!
