Steam Page Is Live!
Thanks for checking out my game. The Store page is now live, so you can wishlist it if you like.
Development Status
The release date is set as 'Coming Soon', which is beautifully vague. I'm actually pretty close to being ready, but not quite ready to commit to a date. Much less than a year. More than a week. A few months? Here's an overview of what's done and what's left to do before launch.
'Boring' Stuff
(By which I mean all the things that are necessary to release a game, but not the game itself) I've just localised the game. I'm not happy with the legibility of all the fonts, but apart from that, it's done. I'm currently improving the controller handling. It all functions well, but there are no icons to tell you what button to press, and there's no screen showing you what the controls are, so I'll do that next. Steam Achievements are done Save games are done (with cloud support) All the steam packaging (ready for distribution) is done.
Gameplay
I'd describe the game a 'Nearly Beta'. Almost all of the content is done - you can play it start-to-finish and I'm not planning to change too much, but there are a couple more changes I want to make before declaring 'it's in Beta - I'm just fixing bugs and shipping it'. Primarily, there's a bit of a 'tutorial' at the start of that game that most players probably won't want to play every time they start a new game. Tutorial is probably overselling it - it's a section of the game that's the same every time, whereas the rest of it has a lot of randomness. I need to find a neat way to bypass that without it feeling jarring and breaking the story.
Steam Deck?
I fired up the game on Steam Deck - it all looks good. I've got to sort out the button icons (see above) but other than that there are no issues. I've not looked at what it will take to get the 'Great On Deck' sticker, but last time I did it there was a period of evaluation. I expect the game to work well on Steam Deck at launch whether or not I have the sticker in time.
That's it for now, I'd better get back to it,
Thanks for reading,
Tommy Winsford
