changedHello everyone, I'm very grateful for all the feedback I've been receiving. I've been reading everything and have some exciting improvements to announce.
changedThe primary improvements:
changedThe Matchmaking Ranking System now shows that you win when your opponent abandons a match. This was already the case but the User Interface did not properly let you know that abandoned matches were safe to leave and that you still gain rank when your opponent abandons the match.
addedAdditionally, matches may now be safely abandoned before round 2. So for example, if you find yourself facing the same opponent over and over and don't want to go through with the match, you can leave (so long as you do before round 2) without it affecting your rank.
changedThe singleplayer base difficulty has been adjusted. The base difficulty was admittedly a brutal experience. Note, however, that the upper bound of the difficulty has not been changed. If you still want a challenging experience, you will definitely get it through the difficulty modifiers; however, the default standard difficulty is now easier.

The primary improvements:

  1. The Matchmaking Ranking System now shows that you win when your opponent abandons a match. This was already the case but the User Interface did not properly let you know that abandoned matches were safe to leave and that you still gain rank when your opponent abandons the match.

Additionally, matches may now be safely abandoned before round 2. So for example, if you find yourself facing the same opponent over and over and don't want to go through with the match, you can leave (so long as you do before round 2) without it affecting your rank.

And Leaderboard Rank changes are now displayed in Run History - showing which matches caused you to rank up or down and by how much.

  1. The singleplayer base difficulty has been adjusted. The base difficulty was admittedly a brutal experience. Note, however, that the upper bound of the difficulty has not been changed. If you still want a challenging experience, you will definitely get it through the difficulty modifiers; however, the default standard difficulty is now easier.

Other features and improvements:

  • The herbalist will now stay targeting the original hero that they started on and follow them if they walk out of range. The herbalist will still switch targets in the event that their target dies or their target gets maxed out on the stats that the herbalist is giving them.

  • Priest's with the Regeneration ability have been improved to be actually useful. Regeneration now stacks so that it can deliver significant amounts of healing over time.

  • Burrower's Nymphs inherit the Burrower's abilities. Nymphs were previously rather useless. Now they are meaningfully strategic. Burrower's burrow animation is now much faster.

  • Charm no longer ends a battle if the last remaining unit is charmed. Charm is still useful in that it makes the target attack it's allies, however you will still have to kill the charmed hero when Charm wears off.

  • Quality of LifeA "Restart" button has been added to the singleplayer pause menu allowing you to quickly try a new run with a fresh shop if you roll poorly on your run.
  • Fix: Windowed mode now persists so you don't have to toggle it on every time.

  • BalanceStarting farms have been increased to allow for larger armies without spending as much gold
  • BalanceGiant Killer's multiplier has been reduced to 1.5/2.5/5
  • New Feature: There is a "Hold Position" toggle under the upgrades tab that allows you to instruct particular heroes to stay put for the first 15 seconds of battle. This may be tactically useful under specific circumstances.

Note: The iOS and Android versions lag a few days behind steam, so if you're trying to play crossplatform with someone on mobile you can return to the previous version by right clicking on Some of You May Die in your Steam Library, choose "Properties" > "Game Versions & Betas" and then "v1.0.0" and make sure it updates.

Again thank you for all the great feedback. I understand that the difficulty spoiled the experience for a lot of players and I take all of your messages to heart.

See you on the battlefield! Jo
