We crammed in as much content as we could. Yet this is only a slice of Smasher’s final mayhem!

We also folded in your playtest feedback and, spoiler, rebuilt one of the core mechanics.

After you clear the demo, drop your impressions in the feedback form so we can push the game even further and melt more brains at launch.

Below you’ll find the full patch notes, dev-backstage details, and everything packed into the demo.

Changes based on your feedback

Two weeks ago we ran a Steam playtest. Your comments were gold!

Since then the whole team has been grinding to fold as many improvements as possible into today’s demo.

Guns

Throwing and catching guns felt clunky for some of you, so we rebuilt the entire system:

  • Pin-point throws – guns now fly exactly where you expect

  • Magnetic beam pickup – a clear visual cue when you yank a weapon back

  • “Chewy” effect – guns gently snap to your hand so they’re harder to fumble

Hub

Major and minor improvements:

  • Shooting range to test any weapon

  • Extra hints for both magic and guns

  • Streamlined spell-selection navigation

Tutorial

  • Trimmed the fat and shortened the essential bits for a faster start

  • Reworked confusing segments

Text & Localization

More optional lore, fixes to older lines, and full localisation into ten languages:

  • English

  • German

  • French

  • Spanish

  • Portuguese

  • Russian

  • Polish

  • Simplified Chinese

  • Korean

  • Japanese

Visuals & Tech

Squashed every gameplay and visual bug we found – no critical issues left. If you spot one we missed, please let us know through the feedback form.

TL;DR

The playtest was invaluable. Thank you!

If you filled out the form before, tell us if today’s demo feels better.

You also asked for more content – and it’s coming. Watch for it in the full release later this year. 😊

What’s in the demo

The demo delivers the entire first level in its final state: a skyscraper ascent made of several unique locations, capped by a boss battle.

Locations

  • Lobby with an alarm button – Stop enemies from slapping it, or brace for backup reinforcements

  • Elevator ride – Because no action movie skips the elevator

  • Server room with a hacking terminal – Keep your hands on the terminal while bullets fly

  • Skybridge – Rockets, explosions, death lasers, and the Mother Drone boss waiting at the end. Good luck!

Boss

Multi-phase fight, eye-laser death ray, rocket barrages, swarms of minions, and a tiny you. Stay mobile, spam every ability, and watch the arena for goodies.

Guns

Arm yourself (and your enemies’ faces) with:

  • “Volt-9” Pistol

  • “BlitzHex” SMG

  • “Scatterline” Shotgun

  • “RLT-1” Rocket Launcher

Magic

Because explosions alone aren’t enough:

  • Fireball

  • Frost Beam

  • Void Shield

  • Telekinesis Pull

Menu

No boring static menu here. An interactive hub lets you launch the level and tweak settings with an actual computer, test weapons in the shooting range, and pick a spell crystal for your glove with your own hands.

Soundtrack

Original score, crafted in-house. And yes, we’ve had it on repeat for weeks. A chunk of it is in the demo. Hope you love the tracks as much as we do.

Thank you for the support ❤️

The demo lands just in time for Next Fest. Feel free to leave a review on the Smasher demo page – it helps a ton.

Most of all, have fun and raise havoc!

See you soon in the next devlog, where we’ll unveil more launch content: a brutal new enemy, a scorching weapon, and a massive location.

With love, The Smasher VR Team 💙
