Slug Survival changes
I’ve been quiet for a while, and I’m sorry about that.
Slug Survival launched in December, and since then players have pointed out several things that were broken, unclear, or simply not feeling right. I’ve been reading the feedback, bug reports, and discussion posts, and this update is focused on addressing some of the most important issues.
This is not the final stop for Slug Survival, but it is an important repair and polish update.
🏆 The Leaderboard Is Fair Again
Some impossible scores had made it onto the leaderboard.
Those invalid scores have been removed, and the issue that allowed unrealistic leaderboard values has been fixed. The leaderboard has been cleaned up so everyone can compete on fairer ground again.
Sorry to legitimate players who had real scores affected by the reset. I know that is frustrating, but cleaning the board was the fairest way to move forward.
📡 Radar Fixes
The radar had a bug where enemy indicators could stop appearing after a few waves.
That has now been fixed. Enemy dots should behave more reliably during longer runs, making the radar useful again when the screen gets chaotic.
🎨 Updated Presentation
Slug Survival now has an updated icon, logo, and title-screen presentation.
The game is moving toward a cleaner, more finished visual direction, and this update is the first step in that direction.
🌿 Mow Down the Garden
Environmental destruction has been improved.
Flowers, mushrooms, and grass now break in one or multi shots and burst into colorful debris when destroyed.
Stumps and logs take a few more hits but now break apart with a stronger impact effect and leave debris behind. The path you carve through the field should feel more visible and satisfying.
Trees, walls, and large rocks still block shots and can be used as cover. Smaller garden props are now fair game.
⚡ Smoother Gameplay
Several under-the-hood issues were cleaned up to reduce frame hitches during heavier waves.
Late-wave combat should feel smoother and more stable, especially when the arena gets crowded. If you still notice slowdowns, please report where and when they happen. Those reports help me track down the remaining problems faster.
🏆 Achievement Improvements
Achievements have been cleaned up so progress now better reflects actual gameplay.
Some achievement icons have also been improved, giving the Steam achievement list a more polished and consistent look.
📘 Tutorial & Clarity Updates
The tutorial text has been updated with clearer survival tips, including:
Health drops from trees
Boss Support Slugs
Elite Slug attack patterns
Boss wave behavior
The goal is to make the game easier to understand without removing the challenge.
