SlashZero changes
Hi Timehackers! I’m Jun, game director of SlashZero. Nice to bring something new to you today on PC Gaming Show!
It’s been quite some time since our last update, and we’ve been hard at work on SlashZero. We’ve been refining features based on feedback from our last playtest, while also developing new content for upcoming events and tests. Moving forward, we’ll be sharing regular development updates in our monthly Dev Diary.
Stick to Our Core Design Philosophy - CHOOSE YOUR POWER, HONE YOUR STYLE
The last playtest has reinforced our confidence in SlashZero —an action roguelike defined by its deep, dynamic combat system and wildly unpredictable passive bonuses. In SlashZero, every aspect of your playstyle is yours to decide, stringing together devastating combos, charting your own growth path, stacking powerful abilities, and unlocking game-changing synergies.
With infinite timelines, death is never the end. Each fall in one timeline fuels your strength for the next attempt, creating a loop brimming with endless variety and possibility. No matter experimentation or mastery, you'll carve out your own path to uncover the world's hidden truth.
Choose your power, hone your style. That's the main concept revealed in the trailerand every mechanic of SlashZero and we will continue to develop the game on this basis.
Keep Crafting New Content - NEW CHARACTER COMING SOON
As you might have spotted in the trailer's ending card, a brand-new character is on the way. I won't give too much away, but I can say this character stands out from our existing roster—both in terms of skills and visual design.
We were absolutely thrilled by the love you showed Nyx and Fina during our last playtest, and we’ve taken your feedback to heart about expanding the storyline and deepening character appeal. Rest assured, we are working very hard on these.
More and more timehackers will get into this universe and fight against Hieros-I together. Stay tuned for updates on characters and storylines soon!
Leveraging Feedback to Drive Optimizations
Over the last month, our team has been reviewing every piece of feedback from the recent playtest to identify targeted optimization opportunities. Our efforts are currently focused on several key areas, such as combat system, enemy and boss behaviors, core mechanics like the timeline system.
For instance, we've adjusted the shielded enemy's initial attack patterns to be more approachable for players, addressing one of the most commonly cited pain points. We've also developed two potential solutions for improving block and control responsiveness, and we're eager to gather further player input to finalize the best approach.
We've dedicated significant resources to these optimizations and will continue prioritizing them in the coming weeks. Our goal is to incorporate additional tester feedback to refine our solutions and ensure the best possible gameplay experience.
Our Focus for the Coming Months And Summer
Development remains our top priority in the months ahead, but we’re also doubling down on community engagement. This means amplifying player feedback channels, sharing more in-game content and behind-the-scenes insights through regular updates, and connecting face-to-face with you at offline events to hear your thoughts directly.
Mark your calendars: we’ll be at he Indie Zone at the G-Fusion Game Festival with a playable demo of SlashZero on June 27-28 in Shenzhen, China. Swing by Booth D35 to meet the team, get hands-on with the latest build, and grab exclusive merch!
