Rin and her father embark on a daring search for hidden Numen Tomes, navigating the Syndicate’s watchful gaze, ancient relics, and dangerous agents. Every step reveals secrets, risks, and the hidden power of knowledge—and proves that courage isn’t limited to warriors alone.

“I look out at the mess and try to figure out what I’m missing, but I don’t get it. “Just tell me what we’re doing here, please.”

Dad laughs. “Let me grab my handy-dandy tarbon resonator, and we can begin the hunt.” Dad opens the cruiser’s gull-wing door. He steps out and digs around under his seat.

Tarbon? That’s ancient tech. Dad is baiting me into asking for a dad-splanation. I open my door and step out into the dry heat.

Dad pulls out a baby-blue cone that fits in the palm of his hand.

I can’t help it. I take the bait. “What’s a tarbon resonator?”

Dad balances the cone in his hand and walks over to me. “I built it myself. Here. Be very careful with it.” He extends the resonator to me. I reach out to grab it. Dad exclaims, “Whoa! No!”
