Repeated intro
Hey everyone,
What changed
- Balance
- Gameplay
- UI and audio
I’m Alper Nargileci, game designer and product lead of Sizzle & Stack, and I’m incredibly excited to write the first chapter of our developer diary.
Sizzle & Stack is a fast-paced, card-based cooking simulator where deck-building meets restaurant chaos. Inspired by Stacklands, this unique twist on the culinary genre puts you in charge of a growing kitchen where every dish, upgrade, and decision is made with cards. The amazing game, Stacklands, heavily inspires it.
Right now, our demo is in Steam review, and it’ll be live in just a few days. It’s surreal to say that. What started as a small prototype—about cooking, cards, and creative chaos—has grown into something we truly believe in.
We came together as a team with one goal: to make something cozy, joyful, and lasting. Sizzle & Stack is set in a charming urban fantasy world, where magic simmers just beneath the surface of every meal. It’s a game about rhythm, decision-making, and discovering strange new recipes in a world that feels warm, weird, and wonderfully alive.
This is also a big personal milestone for us: it will be our first finished project on Steam. That alone is a reason to celebrate—but more than that, we’ve built this game with the long-term in mind. Sizzle & Stack isn’t just a quirky card game about cooking. It’s designed to be an everlasting game—moddable, expandable, and constantly growing with its community. We want this game to stay fresh long after launch, shaped by your ideas as much as ours.
Right now, we’re in the feedback gathering phase. That means your impressions, comments, bug reports, and chaotic kitchen stories are gold to us. Tell us what works. Tell us what breaks. Tell us if you accidentally deep-fried a banana and set your station on fire. Every insight you share in comments helps us refine the experience.
We’re thrilled to be part of Steam Next Fest in June 2025, where we’ll showcase a polished, updated version of the demo based on your feedback. And yes—we’re planning to launch the full game shortly after the festival.
We’re especially excited to confirm: modding will be fully supported. From custom cards and new ingredients to full-on content packs, we’re building the game to be a platform for creativity.
And none of this could’ve happened without the brilliant, passionate team behind it:
- Bilal Aydın – Developer
- Mesut Usta – Developer
- Zeynep Çıvgış aka Zeze – Illustrator
- Barış Yalçın – UI/UX Artist, SFXs
- Elif Kaya – Animation VFXs, 3D VFXs
- Berna Güney – QA Lead
And a huge thank you to the entire Arvis Games team. We shared this journey together, cooked it together, and served it together.
So what’s next? Wishlist the game, give the demo a spin when it drops, and tell us how it feels. Sizzle & Stack is our love letter to cozy chaos, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
Until next time, Alper Nargileci Game Designer & Product Lead, Sizzle & Stack
