Hello everyone

I will try to make this short This post is here for me to ask the community if you guys think we should make a Patreon page.

It was often suggested by multiple people over the last few years but I always refused under the principle that I don't like to lock content behind a paywall and the lack of proper organisation.

Not only that, but the game is being worked on as a hobby. We both have jobs taking our time, so a Patreon would just feel weird given our context. Aka, our livelihood do not depend on the success of the game, which nowadays appears to be a pretty rare thing among Game dev or youtube/streaming platforms etc...

This is why I make this post. I personally started thinking about it more and more in the last month or so. I thought about potential ways to maybe make it work, but it depends on the community.

Hence I want to make a poll.

Should we start a Patreon page to support the development of Sinking Simulator? Here's a link to the Poll https://www.strawpoll.me/19141586

of course, I cannot promise regular game updates. it really depends on the kind of content being worked on at the time and Fred's schedule.

What would Patrons get?

  1. Access to experimental builds before being pushed to steam

  2. A Unique role on our Discord Server

  3. Better look at the future plans of the game

  4. Access to the original files and give suggestions for revisions (commissioned works)

  5. Permanent name in the game credits

That's really about it. I can't really think of anything else of value which wouldn't go against my "no paywall" policies I also have to look more in depth to Patreon's policies before making any promises

Please take note,

The purpose of those experimental builds are for play testing before we update the Steam Branch.

they will vary from update to update and they may be unstable. We won't deliberately delay the steam update to favorise Patreons. We'll just dump stuff there for people to look at it if they are interested.

We're also open to suggestion.
