changedThis is the biggest update yet. We've rebuilt major systems to make the game feel authentic across every era of heavyweight boxing — from the bare-knuckle days of the 1880s all the way through to the modern Saudi Arabia mega-fight era. Here's everything that's changed.
added🥊 ERA-AUTHENTIC MODE (NEW) A new default startup option — "Era Authentic (Follow History)" — makes title fight rounds follow real boxing history:
changedDialogue — Trainer and promoter references to Saudi Arabia, social media, etc. are replaced with era-appropriate language.
changed📜 2,500 HISTORICAL FIGHTERS The full database of 2,500+ real heavyweights from 1860 to 2026 has been completely overhauled:
removedAdaptive division sizing — The game counts how many imported fighters are active for your start year and only generates AI fighters to fill the gaps. Modern starts no longer bloat to 1,000+ fighters.
changedImproved elite stats — 700+ rated imported fighters have career stat simulation capped at 8 years, so they arrive closer to their real ability rather than as over-declined shells.

Heavyweight Boxing Champion — Patch 4.0.0 "The History Update 2.0 — Fight in any Era against Heavyweight Legends!!"

Hey everyone,

This is the biggest update yet. We've rebuilt major systems to make the game feel authentic across every era of heavyweight boxing — from the bare-knuckle days of the 1880s all the way through to the modern Saudi Arabia mega-fight era. Here's everything that's changed.

🥊 ERA-AUTHENTIC MODE (NEW) A new default startup option — "Era Authentic (Follow History)" — makes title fight rounds follow real boxing history:

Pre-1900: 25 rounds

1900-1919: 20 rounds

1920-1982: 15 rounds

1983+: 12 rounds

When the era changes, a boxing news headline announces the historic rule change. You can still lock in 12, 15, 20, or 25 rounds manually if you prefer.

🏅 HISTORICALLY-ACCURATE TITLE LANDSCAPE Sanctioning bodies appear in the order they did in real life — no more 4-belt picture in 1920:

Pre-1963: A single world heavyweight championship — one champion, one belt, one undisputed king (shown in-game as the WBA title throughout)

1963: WBC formed, splitting the world title for the first time

1983: IBF formed, fragmenting the picture further

1988: WBO formed, completing the modern four-belt era

Regional titles (NABF, European, British, Commonwealth, etc.) appear at their correct historical introduction years. Fighting for a "world title" in 1908 means winning the title — one belt, undisputed status was the only status. From 1880 to 1962, there's one heavyweight champion of the world.

🌍 ERA-AWARE WORLD The entire game world now adapts to the year you're playing in:

Venues — Title fights in the 1890s take place at MSG, Yankee Stadium, and the Polo Grounds. The 1960s-70s bring the Astrodome, Kinshasa, and Manila. The 80s-90s belong to Caesars Palace and the MGM Grand. Riyadh's Kingdom Arena only appears from 2021.

Nationalities — Pre-1920, fighters come almost exclusively from the USA, UK, Ireland, and Australia. Countries like Nigeria, Cuba, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan emerge gradually through the decades.

Purse money — A world title fight in 1880 pays ~$5-15K. In 1920 ~$400K. In 1975 ~$3.7M. In 2026 ~$30M+. Purses grow 2% per year into the future.

Social media — Pre-2010, "Instagram followers" becomes "Fans" across all screens and dialogue.

Dialogue — Trainer and promoter references to Saudi Arabia, social media, etc. are replaced with era-appropriate language.

📜 2,500 HISTORICAL FIGHTERS The full database of 2,500+ real heavyweights from 1860 to 2026 has been completely overhauled:

No more duplicate imports — AI name generation now seeds all imported fighter names before creating any AI fighters. No more two Joseph Parkers or two Daniel Dubois.

Adaptive division sizing — The game counts how many imported fighters are active for your start year and only generates AI fighters to fill the gaps. Modern starts no longer bloat to 1,000+ fighters.

Improved elite stats — 700+ rated imported fighters have career stat simulation capped at 8 years, so they arrive closer to their real ability rather than as over-declined shells.

Medal talent floors — Olympic Gold medalists guaranteed 651-700 (Elite), WAC Gold 601-650 (World-Class), with appropriate floors for silver and bronze. Medalists can no longer be crushed to journeyman level by tier caps.

Synthetic career records — Mid-career imports now arrive with believable pre-game records reflecting their actual career stage. George Foreman in a 1989 game arrives at ~75-3 with the right titles, not 0-0.

Cruiserweight & light-heavyweight crossovers — James Toney, Bob Foster, Lawrence Okolie, Vassiliy Jirov, Bobby Czyz and others who challenged at heavyweight are included with appropriate ratings.

🔧 OTHER FIXES Fixed year jumping to 2026 when retiring and starting a new fighter in the same universe.

Title fight round selection preserved correctly across save/load.

Old saves with numeric round values still work.

New career record: Retired with Fewest Defeats (min 30F, 25W) — celebrates champions who walked away on top.

Active fighters now retain their full pro fight history without any cap, so BoxRec entries reflect every bout.

All fighter ratings, records, and statistics are fictional estimates for entertainment purposes. No endorsement or affiliation with any real person or organisation is implied.

Thanks for playing. Your bug reports and feedback make this game better every update. See you in the ring. 🥊
