Update 7.5 - A Prelude to an End

A New Focus 2025 started as a year of big plans of which many still remain. I got a lot of work done on the new dream game and that is now at a stage where I can build card decks and craft actual dreams.

addedA New Focus2025 started as a year of big plans of which many still remain. I got a lot of work done on the new dream game and that is now at a stage where I can build card decks and craft actual dreams. I also looked at making PC versions of my first two Android games, and they look like possible future endeavours. And Siberian Dawn sat and chilled through the year, taking a break.
changedA New FocusLetting a game rest for a while is a good thing as it lets me come back to it with a fresh pair of eyes, with new thoughts and ideas gained from working on other things like the dream game. And so as 2016 dawned and I thought about what I would plan this year, and not wanting to make many plans that then ended up not finished like 2025, I decided to finish Siberian Dawn’s story this year. The dream game can put its feet up and chill for a while to allow me to return to it with a fresh energy later and I will now focus on Siberian Dawn, completing original plans and bringing Chapter 2 to you.
addedA New FocusSince the start of the year, and this change of focus, I have started working of the prelude updates that will lead up to the eventual release of the massive Chapter 2 update. This involves looking at the various parts of the game with those fresh eyes I mentioned, and the new energy with this return, looking for any areas the can be enhanced for the benefit of the game. I am also going through and tidying up 13 years worth of code, removing any obsolete elements and updating any outdated code. This year also marks the 8th anniversary of Siberian Dawn on Steam and it is also approaching update 8.0, a nice coincidence that may need to be exploited.
addedUpdate 7.5Well the first additions is something that has probably been the most requested addition for the game. Working on the dream game I built a deck view that showed 10 cards on screen rather than the single card view that was in Siberian Dawn, and so one of the first things I considered with this return to developing Siberian Dawn was could I bring that expanded view over from the dream game. So with a lot of careful coding we now have an expanded deck view in the game, which can be toggled with the single card view. This improves the viewing of a deck a great deal so I am glad that is now in there.
addedUpdate 7.5Other enhancements that came with this update include now darkening the game screen when any sub hub is open to improve focus, and some alterations to the Market Pods to make the Unit markets clearer to navigate and changed how the Swap button is displayed, as can be seen below. This pod adjustment means that all the other Unit markets stay visible so you don't have to use the arrow pods, remembering which market is next or previous, something that will become more important when the new Chapter 2 Unit markets are added.

Update 7.5

So enough talk of the plans, what do I have for you with this first 7.5 prelude update today?

Well the first additions is something that has probably been the most requested addition for the game.
