The intention of this playtesting event is to gather feedback to aid us in development. However, feel free to stream yourself playing the game / send screenshots to a small group of friends privately (e.g. screen sharing on a Discord call) if you want to!
changedOther stuff:The default sound settings might be a little off. You can edit the volume levels of the different sound sources either in the options menu in the title screen or by pressing [ESC] during gameplay. The hotly anticipated May 2026 Steam Playtest for ShelfLife: Art School Detective is LIVE from NOW until May 10th!

We're excited to get your thoughts on the new build and if you encounter any bugs, please let us know!

This is a small demo (roughly 40-50 mins) showing off a tiny section of the game, so expect bugs and incomplete features!

How to play test the Playtest:

  1. If you've played our previous playtest you'll just need to do an update on steam. If that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall the "ShelfLife Art School Detective Playtest" application, and try again.

  2. If you don't have access to download the playtest demo, visit the ShelfLife Steam Page and click the green"Request Access"button. (Access granted within 24 hours, you'll be notified via email!)

  3. Once approved, go to your Steam Library and install the ShelfLife: Art School Detective Playtest Demo.

  4. Play the demo!

  5. Give us ur FEEDBACK! We have a Feedback Form here: https://forms.gle/Fc149eki8HMS5AKn8, but you can also leave comments on our Steam Discussions page, or using the 'feedback-forum' on our Discord.

Other stuff:

  • We would appreciate it if you didn’t stream ShelfLife publicly while it’s in this early stage. The intention of this playtesting event is to gather feedback to aid us in development. However, feel free to stream yourself playing the game / send screenshots to a small group of friends privately (e.g. screen sharing on a Discord call) if you want to!

  • The default sound settings might be a little off. You can edit the volume levels of the different sound sources either in the options menu in the title screen or by pressing [ESC] during gameplay.
