Shale changes
Shale 1.0
All content has been added to the game and it's time for full release! ːsteamhappyː
Just want to start off by saying a big thank you to everyone that played and supported Shale in its early access phase. Here is the official release trailer!
New Level and Location
This is the final location called 'Outskirts'. Designed differently compared to the other locations. It focuses on looting and crafting, giving the player a slight break between the combat of the other levels. However, there are also some minor enemies in Outskirts too. But, all varieties can spawn randomly, resulting in some interesting encounters and combat between npc's.
Also, unlike the other levels, the enemies in Outskirts will remain at base level and will not scale with your character level. I designed this to help show the player how far they are progressing with their offense and defense stats.
Objectives
I've finalized the objective system. Although completing these is not mandatory, they are done to introduce the player in both how to play as well as aquiring skill points and bonus experience points.
There are multiple lists of objectives per location (Excluding Outskirts which is free roam) and the player will rotate through these objectives. There will be some repetition, but by the time the player reaches that point they will be more free to choose how they want to play.
Final Craftable List
I've added more craftable valuable items that the player can sell. In addition, I've added an in-game list of all craftable items and their ingredients.
I was planning on adding this to the craft bench but found it more benificial having it in the pause menu so the player can access it anytime. ːsteamhappyː
Progression
In-game collectable Tapes and Notes have all been added to Shale. Coming to a total of 50 Tapes and 25 Notes. Given that this is the full release, all the final Achievements have also been added coming to a total of about 20.
Additionally, when you are at your car menu, you can now see your overall game progress in the lower right side of the screen, below the skill select buttons.
New Demo Available
I've also updated and re-released the demo for Shale. Level capped at five and one save slot available, I believe it's a good representation of Shale and gives players the choice to try it out before purchasing the full version.
Additional Features
And finally, I've added full controller support for Shale as well as Push-To-Talk voice chat for co-op.
Changes
I've also done a few minor changes to economy:
Generate skill point reduced to 20 from 25
Collect Shale amount for new skill point reduced to 160 from 200
Reduced Fuse cost increment ~30%
Generator value increased to 150
For anyone curious, this has been an entirely solo-developed game. I hope this shows as I wanted to give Shale its own identity. Once again, a big thank you to everyone that supported Shale during the early access phase and hopefully you enjoy the final full version. I'm moving onto another project now, but I will still be updating and keeping track of Shale to fix any issues players come across (Post in the discussions!) as well as any patches needed.
Thank you, enjoy Shale! ːsteamhappyː
