addedHi everyone. :) We have a new patch for you which focus on improving how runs begin by giving you more control and stronger starts. The patch also adds high-resolution portraits, plus a range of smaller fixes and improvements. Read on!
addedAdded the option to pick your starting hero in campaign mode A recurring community request for Seer’s Gambit has been the ability to pick your starting hero. We would have loved to implement this earlier, but it was unfortunately not an easy task. As such, it has been sitting in our backlog for some time until we could solve it in a way that we felt would provide a good player experience.
changedWith this patch, you will now be able to pick your starting hero from the pool of unlocked heroes. As you explore Emalon and discover and unlock more heroes, these will also become available as starting heroes.
changedChanged campaign starting hero to epic instead of rare
addedAdded the option to toggle between pixel portraits and high resolution portraits
addedWhile many, including ourselves, loved our pixel portraits, we’ve had a lot of requests to implement higher-resolution versions. We wanted to cater to both those who love the original art and those who are looking for a different artistic expression of their favorite characters. As such, we’ve added an option to toggle between the art styles so you can choose the one you prefer.

Added the option to pick your starting hero in campaign mode A recurring community request for Seer’s Gambit has been the ability to pick your starting hero. We would have loved to implement this earlier, but it was unfortunately not an easy task. As such, it has been sitting in our backlog for some time until we could solve it in a way that we felt would provide a good player experience.

With this patch, you will now be able to pick your starting hero from the pool of unlocked heroes. As you explore Emalon and discover and unlock more heroes, these will also become available as starting heroes.

We can’t wait to see the crazy builds and team compositions you will discover now that you can control your starting point.

Changed campaign starting hero to epic instead of rare

Originally, we decided to start players out with a rare hero to ensure an ongoing feeling of progress as you progressed through the 7 days. We expected it to feel boring to never have a reason to change your original hero, and we wanted players to feel really excited when they finally had that first epic hero drop.

While this has been working to an extent, we’ve received extensive feedback that it feels bad not to be able to build your team around your initial hero, since ideally you replace it with an epic down the line.

Now that we give players the option to pick their starter hero, it felt like the perfect time to address this feedback as well and change the rarity of the starter hero from rare to epic. This way, you can start a run with a build direction, which will hopefully increase the feeling of strategic control, combined with having to make interesting decisions based on random hero recruit encounters.

Added the option to toggle between pixel portraits and high resolution portraits

While many, including ourselves, loved our pixel portraits, we’ve had a lot of requests to implement higher-resolution versions. We wanted to cater to both those who love the original art and those who are looking for a different artistic expression of their favorite characters. As such, we’ve added an option to toggle between the art styles so you can choose the one you prefer.

Additional changes and fixes

While implementing the above we also took the time to tweak and fix some other areas of the game that were in need. Here is the rest of the changelog:

  • Changed Fernandez skill tree pick 3.2 from "On attack chance to stun" to "On attack chance to stun. Fernandez now permanently gains attack power for every character stunned."

  • Fixed a bug where Candlemage attack cooldown was also shown for his ability and ulti cooldown

  • Updated description of empower in a couple of places to make it clearer what empower does.

  • Added localization for various game input, boss lines and blind messages.

  • Replaced the Discord link with a QQ link for Chinese speakers

Thank you for continuing to provide feedback that allows us to improve Seer’s Gambit. We hope you will enjoy the changes! :) Sigrid & Mattias
