Here is the text version of the update:
As I’m starting to make one game each month for the next 24 months, I need to have some sort of a plan for each game. So, let’s talk about the first game release that will happen on 30th of September, 2025.
Like mentioned in my Devlog #2: It’s Seeker: Quest!
It has been in development for some time and I’ve been struggling to finalize it. It all became unsustainable since it involved a lot of learning in basically all areas of my development skills, especially programming.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Seeker: Quest started as a small project with my three kids. I kept adding features based on their requests, without any grand plan or design document to guide it.
This ultimately turned into something chaotic. But still, I find the game unique in many ways and I’m proud of it. The challenge is that it takes new players a while to grasp, and not everyone has the patience for that, which is understandable.
WHAT’S THE ’FUN’ IN SEEKER: QUEST?
It’s definitely exploring all the playable characters and finding a good combination of Seekers to survive the ever-challenging levels. It is also a fun challenge to unlock all the Seekers and achievements.
WHAT’S NEXT?
I tried improving the new player onboarding in recent updates, but quickly realized it would be almost as much work as rebuilding the game from scratch. Just because it’s been coded rather badly.
Luckily, a good number of people have already enjoyed the game, and because of this, I decided it’s better to move on with the project and just crunch it to the finish line.
In September, I’ll focus on finishing up Seeker: Quest with:
The Spirit Island (new area to explore, including new Seekers and a boss fight)
The Leerking Battle (final boss that completes the story)
Missing story dialogues
Small onboarding improvements to make it easier to explore the mechanics
Seeker: Quest will be released on 30th of September, 2025!
HOW CAN I GET SEEKER: QUEST?
You can either become a (paid 3 EUR/month) member on Patreon to get the game, purchase it on Steam, or itch.io. (Already available as Steam Early Access)
Also, in case you want to hear more about my grand plan of shipping 24 games in 24 months, you can watch the Devlog #1 on Youtube!
Thanks for following along, and I can’t wait for you to try Seeker: Quest when it launches!
