Now that players got a taste of our demo, we would like to talk about some of our inspirations that went into the development of Second Sun!

Boomer Shooters & RPGs

Inspiration for Second Sun came from many places! Movies, books and TV shows all contributed to inspiring Second Sun as it is today, but those weren't the main influences. We were hugely influenced old-school shooters like Quake & Doom and ARPGs such as Diablo!

When creating Second Sun, the idea was to take the fast pace and visceral combat of an old school shooter, and mix it with the fun factor of looting new items and building your character, and we believe we have successfully merged these ideas into a satisfying game in Second Sun.

Art & Atmosphere On the other hand, a lot of Second Sun’s atmosphere and art style, as well as the design of the wider world, come from impressionist paintings of the early 20th Century depicting war and conflict. These inspirations not only bled into the world of Second Sun’ art style, but its narrative as well, and their influence can be seen and felt throughout the game.

What’s next? We can't wait for you all to experience the full game when it comes out, but in the meantime we’ll be posting more blogs about the history of the game!
