It’s been a minute. This is Hao, co-developer of SDIES.

First of all, thank you so much for playing our strange little black-and-white game. SDIES started as a small project Kat and I made during grad school, and we never expected it to reach so many players. We’ve read each and every review, and your support has meant so much to us.

Since then, I’ve been working on a new game: Before Closure.

If you enjoyed the interactive audio experience of SDIES, then this is for you:

Before Closure is a first-person narrative game about sound, memory, and the things we never quite learned how to say goodbye to. You play as Murph, sorting through a box of personal items from your ex-partner while moving out of your apartment. By closing your eyes in real life, you will experience immersive audioscapes and relive intimate memories from this past relationship.

The game releases on May 15, 2026.
