addedHello everyone! We’re excited to share the latest update to the Screech demo (0.8.0), addressing some critical bug fixes and enhancements based on your feedback. Here’s what’s new:
changedKey Fixes & Improvements:
fixedTime Travel Bug Fixed We resolved an issue where the FOV would zoom out mid-time travel, and time travel itself could get locked up, preventing progression. This should allow for a much smoother gameplay experience.
fixedLast Room Soft Lock Fixed The trap door in the final room now closes upon entry, ensuring Astrix can’t get soft-locked after rewriting time for the Music Box in the present. This ensures the final puzzle is always accessible.
fixedSlow Walk Bug Fixed Addressed a bug where Astrix would sometimes be stuck walking at a slow pace, with no way to reset the speed. Movement should now be fluid as intended.
fixedOverlapping Music Issue Resolved Fixed the overlapping music bug that would create a chaotic soundscape during gameplay. Now, music should play as intended, enhancing rather than distracting from the atmosphere.

Pistons Puzzle Adjusted We’ve made the pistons puzzle a bit easier to ensure a smoother progression for players without sacrificing challenge.

UI & Audio Adjustments Item Location UI Updated Improved UI visibility for item locations, making it clearer for players to track important items in the game.

Time Piece UI Fix The UI icon for the Time Piece now correctly disappears once picked up. Previously, it would stay visible even after Astrix had it in hand.

Music Box Sound Controls Adjusted the Music Box sound levels to be responsive to in-game volume changes, allowing players to better control the audio experience.

Other Small Changes Various other minor tweaks and quality-of-life improvements to enhance your overall experience.

Thanks to everyone who’s been supporting and playing the demo! We hope these updates make for an even more enjoyable time in the world of Screech. Please continue sharing your feedback—we’re listening!
