Scrap Mechanic changes
Drilling Thunder drops you and your friends into an epic, full-story engineering survival adventure! Venture into an open world and abandon mines to uncover deep secrets. Fight new bot enemies and build incredible machines that haven't been possible before, all wrapped in an impressive new graphical upgrade!
Major Changes & New Features
Story and NPCs Survival experience comes with a full story from beginning to end, featuring fully voice-acted NPCs.
The Miner Island Drilling Thunder adds a massive new area to the world. Letting the player dig deep in to the abandoned mine to uncover dark secrets and forgotten treasures.
World Overhaul The terrain has gone through major changes, featuring beautiful new tiles as well as reworked terrain generation. Drive through new forest roads and cross the desert biome, but avoid the tornadoes… or don’t!
New Building Parts A ton of new building parts have been added, allowing players to build completely unique creations that were never possible before! There are a massive amount of new blocks, parts, and interactive parts to get creative with!
New Enemies Get ready for a bunch of new enemy bots to deal with! The new bots create some really interesting encounters and encourage creative new combat and defense game play.
The Claygun: Shape the Terrain! We are very excited to introduce the Claygun, available in both Creative and Survival modes! This tool introduces a completely new way of building and shaping the ground.
New Garments to Customize Your Character This update comes loaded with a bunch of new shirts and outfits to collect. Some are much harder to obtain than others!
Steam Achievements With the 1.0 release, we have finally added Steam Achievements!
Improved Network Responsiveness This update comes with a massive wave of optimizations, but the one we think multiplayer fans will appreciate the most is the improved network responsiveness for connected players.

Common Questions
Will the price change? Yes, Scrap Mechanic will cost 29.99 USD after the 1.0 update on the 24th July
Will my old worlds still work in 1.0? Your old worlds will still work in Creative Mode. However, old survival worlds will only work by switching to an older version. But starting a new world is really worth it since Survival Mode now has a full story from beginning to end and a ton of new content in 1.0.
Will my mods still work in 1.0? Some mods will still function, provided they are not in the Parts or Custom Games categories. However, the safest way to prevent game crashes or broken saves is to stay on the specific game version your mods were designed for.
PLEASE NOTE that once a mod maker updates their mod for 1.0, it may no longer work on older versions of the game. Mod creators can choose to maintain a separate "legacy" version if they wish. Expect a transitional period of some instability while mod authors update their creations for the 1.0 release.
Will 1.0 be buggy and break things? This release is different from previous ones. We have done a lot more rigorous testing with QA teams pre release. Things are looking stable. But as with any game release. Especially when they are this big. There might be things that need to get patched after release.
