Repeated intro
Greetings, warmasters! Our public playtest has officially wrapped up. Over 400 players jumped in to try Scorched Warfare, and we genuinely can't thank you enough for being willing to test what is, honestly, still a "game framework" more than a finished game. Your patience, feedback, and time meant the world to us, and a huge amount of what we're working on next came directly from what we saw you do (and struggle with) in the build.

What's Changing with the Playtest Build
From here on out, we're going to keep pushing new features into the playtest branch. That also means the build is going to get unstable for a while - half-finished systems, placeholder values, the occasional crash. We don't want a brand-new player's first impression of the game to be a broken version, so we're closing public playtest access for now. If you already have playtest access, you keep it. Nothing changes for you - new builds will keep rolling out as we make them. If you'd still like to join testing, drop by our Discord and we'll get you a key.
What We're Working On Right Now
①Talent Tree System (Meta Progression)
Right now, the protagonist is already very strong from your very first run. The talent tree allows you to grow in the specific direction you like. Here is the desgin draft.Steam post image
②Army AI Optimization
We're continuing to iterate on the army AI system, with two clear goals: better performance when there are a lot of units on the field at once, and fewer edge-case bugs in formation, pathing, and engagement behavior.
On the Roadmap (More Details Later)
A few systems are already in planning but not ready to show in detail yet. We'll do a dedicated update on each as they come together:
Block / Parry system
Army-wide active skills
Elite units and Large units
Equipment system
Difficulty tiers for expeditions
Thank you again to everyone who playtested. For a small indie team, getting 400+ people into our test version and giving us thoughtful feedback is genuinely a milestone - it tells us we're on the right track. If you haven't wishlisted yet and want to follow along, it really does help us a lot. See you on the battlefield, The Scorched Warfare Team
