changedIt is very cathartic to finally hit that release button because it means:
addedKNOWN ISSUESSome aspects of the game aren't very well tutorialized. The player learns basic combat but is left to their own devices for most other things, which could make it confusing for new players. Part of this is intentional, letting the player discover things themselves... Although for SOME things I might try and nudge them a bit more in the right direction. If you feel lost playing the demo, feel free to ask questions in the Steam Discussions and I, or someone else, will try to answer them as soon as I can.
changedKNOWN ISSUESAudio mixing for voice lines vs. music can be a bit off.
changedKNOWN ISSUESPlayer.log gets spammed with a lot of error messages from the cutscene system in this build which, after some extended play, can lead to a crash.
changedKNOWN ISSUESIssues with 21:9 (Ultrawide) monitors are present. I've noticed the game tends to revert the resolution setting from "Native Resolution" to 1920x1080, and that UI Sliders can behave strangely on any non-16:9 aspect ratio. I've also noticed some buttons on 21:9 do not anchor to the sides of the screen correctly.
changedKNOWN ISSUESThere should probably be a framerate setting in the options menu. Right now, VSync is on by default and you can't manually change the target FPS.

Version 0.6.0 of the SCAVENGER ZERO DEMO has been released. Thank you for your patience so far.

Making this demo has been tough. There are a lot of things in this demo that are unfinished or unpolished, and there's a part of my brain that looks at the package as a whole and says, "this should be PERFECT before I release it." However, if I didn't release the demo until it was perfect, it probably would've never been released at all. So, here it is now.

It is very cathartic to finally hit that release button because it means:

A) I can finally sleep at a normal time again.

B) This is as bad as the game will ever be. It's all up from here, even though this demo DOES have a few problems I've identified by playing it myself over these last three weeks.

... And I have done a LOT of playtesting.

KNOWN ISSUES

(As of June 5th, 2026)

  • Some aspects of the game aren't very well tutorialized.

  • Audio mixing for voice lines vs. music can be a bit off.

  • Some menu transitions are still buggy / weird. I've noticed that sometimes when you exit the Command Station, it instantly re-opens.

  • Player.log gets spammed with a lot of error messages from the cutscene system in this build which, after some extended play, can lead to a crash.

  • Issues with 21:9 (Ultrawide) monitors are present. I've noticed the game tends to revert the resolution setting from "Native Resolution" to 1920x1080, and that UI Sliders can behave strangely on any non-16:9 aspect ratio. I've also noticed some buttons on 21:9 do not anchor to the sides of the screen correctly.

  • There should probably be a framerate setting in the options menu. Right now, VSync is on by default and you can't manually change the target FPS.

  • I need to do an additional SFX pass, there are a lot of things that are missing sound effects. (Notably: The train on The Strip, landing after doing a jump in the hub world, the bathroom light in the Lavender Co. offices, etc)

NextFest begins on June 15th so over the next 10 days, I'm going to work on fixing these issues and any other issues that pop up from this initial demo. If you find any issues of your own, feel free to put them in the Steam Discussions forum and I'll work on addressing them as soon as I can.
