Saveseeker changes
Thank you so much to everyone who submitted your questions! We apologize that we can't get to all of them, but below are a selected bunch that will give you a closer look at what you can expect in the full game!:
-What are some of the inspirations for Saveseeker?
The two main starting pitches were "What if Mario turned evil, and Mario's kid had to team up with Bowser to save the world from him?" and "The Wizard of Oz if you were going to kick his ass rather than ask for a favor." A (now out-of-print) fantasy novel from the 1990s called Villains by Necessity by Eve Forward was a source of inspiration, too!
-Which consoles will it be on?
PC/Mac for now! We are exploring porting options and will provide an update when we have more information.
-Are all of the game chapters the same length?
Chapters 1 and 6 are shorter worlds by design, but generally, yes. You can expect to spend the same amount of time in each new world.
-How challenging is the game/is there a hard mode?
Saveseeker is balanced to offer an engaging and thoughtful RPG experience without a need for excessive grinding. Certain battles can also be expedited with specific party tactics, and those are for you to discover as you play. There is no planned hard mode.
-Will there be any microtransactions or DLC?
Nope! You buy it, you own the full game with no further costs.
-Do you use any generative AI in your game?
No, we don’t use generative AI for anything in Saveseeker. We created our assets and set up our game development systems long before the generative AI boom, and we aren't changing course now or ever!
-Are you close to finishing?
Very! We're expanding chapter 6 to include an additional area of exploration, but at this point, it's mostly refining what's already there before we get into the rigorous testing phase and do a pass for accessibility. We don't plan to set a launch date until we're confident we've caught everything, and some bugs take longer to fix then others, but we're well on track for our release date next year as of now!
Thank you to everyone reading this for following Saveseeker throughout this year! We can't wait to bring you the full game!
