Samsara changes
We've made the difficult but necessary decision to delay the full launch of Samsara. This means we will not be releasing on Steam tomorrow, June 17th.
The feedback we received during Steam Next Fest was incredibly valuable. We saw a lot of interest in the game's core hook: the reincarnation system, where death leads you to one of six avatars based on the karma of your choices. However, you also told us that the impact of your actions on your karma wasn't clear, the initial learning experience was steep and confusing, and the onboarding process needed significant work.
Simply put, we agree. Our goal has always been to deliver a challenging but fair souls-like experience, and the current version doesn't properly introduce the very systems that make Samsara unique. Releasing a game that doesn't meet our own standards or your expectations, is not something we're willing to do.
For that reason, we are taking this time to go back and focus on key areas. We will be: overhauling the tutorial to better explain core mechanics such as karma, reincarnation and combat; refining and polishing key aspects such as movement, combat and story; as well as implementing quality-of-life fixes and balance tweaks to bring the game up to your exacting standards.
This will take time. As such, we don't have a new release date to share right now, as our sole focus is on getting it right.
We believe in the vision of Samsara and are committed to realising the game's potential. Thank you for your incredible support and feedback. We'll be keeping you updated on our progress.
