This article is about development of the game. I made some improvement on the game feel. To do so, I add a lot of little things to make the experience in more of an Ilinx game.
Ilinx is a word used by Roger Cailloix to classify games. Ilinx games are about sense and feeling, vertigo and proprioception in a virtual world.
Already existing Signs and Feedbacks
Some signs and feedbacks were already existing:
Speedlines
The speedlines are used to make you feel the speed differences. When you walk longer, you walk faster. There is multiple signs about that but the speedlines are the most obvious ones. Without it, speed differences aren't easy to see and feel.
Neon
The neon in the world help player to feel distances. You cannot feel speed without marker that help you understand distance. These neons helps player feels his character going forward but also gaining speed.
Music
When you're slow, the music is incomplete and when you're fast, the music completes itself. The music is a reward for maintaining your speed. It helps you understand your actual speed too.
New Signs and Feedbacks
I added some new Signs and Feedbacks to amplify the game feel and help your understanding of the world and your position.
Camera Shake
When you're in the air and drop on the floor, I added a camera shake to make you understand that you touched the ground.
Tilt cam
When you're wallrunning, the camera will now tilt to make your understanding of your state. Am I wallrunning or not?
FOV modifier
The faster you go, the wider your FOV will be now. It will add to the feeling of speed.
