Cursed Loot

Not every treasure wants to be found.

Some loot you pick up is cursed. It looks almost identical to the real thing — a slightly different glint, nothing more. And it sells for up to three times the value.

But the moment it's aboard, your ship starts to suffer.

What the curse does

The more cursed cargo you carry, the worse it gets:

  • Hull leaks — new leaks open on their own. Repair them at the station before they start eating your hull.

  • Slower ship — your maximum speed drops with every cursed item on board.

  • Failing light — your lantern's reach shrinks, and the fog closes in.

The choice is yours

Carry the curse and hit your quota faster — or grab the item, walk to the edge, and throw it into the sea. The curse lifts instantly. So does your speed.

Just don't be surprised when your crewmate quietly slips one back into the hold.
