Hello everyone!
Today marks exactly one year since the release of Roses Of Love on the Steam store, so I want to thank everyone who purchased the game; thank you for giving the game a small opportunity.
Below I will share some messages or announcements about the project.
Current Status of the Project
As stated on the page and in the Q&A section, the game is almost complete. The main route currently available in the game is fully finished. However, you might wonder: if it’s complete, what is the game missing? At the moment, the game does not have original art or original music.
Living in a country where finding a job is nearly impossible, I thought the best way to finance this project was to release it in early access. This would allow me to fund everything necessary to complete the game. However, this decision came with various challenges, especially in terms of marketing and attracting an audience.
While the main story is complete, that doesn’t stop me from working on additional content. I plan to develop an alternative story, but it will not be released until after the project's final version is published. This is because I also need to cover the costs of the DLC, which represent an additional expense. My plan is to write and gradually improve this alternative story until it reaches the quality I aim for before its release.
Given the current situation, I cannot provide exact dates or make concrete promises. I hope that sales improve by the end of 2025, which would allow me to release the final update in 2026. However, if sales are significantly better than expected earlier on, the final version might be released sometime in 2025. Ultimately, everything depends on how well the game performs commercially.
* Extra note: I also plan to rewrite Roses Of Love Star Princess including discarded ideas, scenes and characters, but this is just an idea for the future.
Official translations
The game was translated into American English and Japanese from Argentinian/Latino Spanish. You might find errors in the translations, so I encourage everyone to comment on parts that are poorly translated or unclear. The English translation was reviewed and translated by two non-native speakers of the language, while the Japanese version was created by me using my basic knowledge of the language, a dictionary, and internet searches to make it sound more natural. Therefore, it might contain many errors.
Achievements
The game includes achievements that can be unlocked during or at the end of the game. Some of these achievements serve as proof that you completed the game, and as you may have noticed, there's a hidden achievement! Yes, the game has a hidden achievement. To unlock it, you must enable the hidden mode using a combination of keys in the game's main menu.
Hidden Mode
This mode allows you to play the game with a lower resolution and a retro shader, emulating old visual novels. Since it’s the game’s anniversary, I’ll reveal how the key combination starts and ends. But first, I want to explain how the key combination is structured. The combination starts with the "INSERT" key and ends with the "END" key. The "INSERT" key activates the game's detection of the combination.
The command to unlock it consists of 7 arrow key movements, excluding "INSERT" and "END," which are mandatory for the command to be recognized correctly. To make finding combinations easier, here’s a hint:
INSERT + DOWN + DOWN + [???] + [???] + [???] + [???] +
