Janghwa, the protagonist, is a curious and spirited character. Determined to escape from the oppression of their stepmother, they make a decision to leave this place together with their precious younger sister, Hongryeon.
Hongryeon always carries a doll with her. She is timid and fearful, but she resolves to follow her sister, Janghwa, in escaping from this place.
