Rogue Station Defense 1.4.0 is on it's way and it contains a lot of new stuff! The release is planned for Monday, 30 December 2024 00:00. Here are the patch notes!
New Features
Corruption
Hostile infestations are corrupting our defense systems! The alien infesters have found a new way to attack us by corrupting our towers and items. In level 5 or higher maps rewards and talents have a chance to be corrupted, causing unpredictable effects. There are three types of corruptions, corresponding to the three types of enemies - biological, tech and energy. Gaining one type of corruption will reduce the amounts of the other two. The more corruption you gain the more powerful the effects become. These effects are both positive and negative, and enables new ways to build your defenses. As well as new weaknesses to overcome.
Talent System Rework
Research Talents has had a major overhaul in this version and are now procedurally generated, much like towers and items. The layout of the talent grid changes every time you play a new map or start a new run. Talents can also have varying rarity, granting extra bonus stats. Talents can also be special handcrafted Unique talents granting powerful or build defining modifiers.
Talents for existing saved runs have been reset and you will be granted a credit refund to spend on new talents.
Account Level and Score System Changes
The score system has been much simplified and is now simply the level of the map multiplied by the number of enemies killed. Along with this comes a change to quick play and daily/weekly games, letting you select the map level before starting the game. The maximum level you can choose is determined by a new concept called Account Level, which represents the highest level of map you have completed - in any game mode.
Each level grants enemies in the map an additional compounding 5% health.
User Interface Improvements
The UI for the armory, towers and reward screen has been updated to show ratings for the following categories: Damage, Health, Range and Speed. This is to provide a better overview of a tower's damage profile. The stat display has also been split into an Offense tab and a Defense tab to be easier to read.
New Content
Spike Trap and Flame Trap. Traps are a new type of non-blocking tower that can be built in the path of the enemies and will trigger when stepped on.
New items
New talents
Balance Changes
Changed how Added Damage works. Previously it was necessary for the base damage type of the ability to be the same as an Added Damage modifier for it to apply, this is no longer the case and any Added Damage modifiers will always apply.
Increased Damage modifiers now also apply to converted damage.
Various small adjustments.
Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug where Critical Strike Damage was not included in comparison tooltips.
Fixed a bug where enemies sometimes became unkillable.
Fixed a bug where Biological enemies were not immune to tech damage.
Fixed a bug where the Burn Damage granted from Napalm Missiles did not apply.
Various bug fixes and performance improvements.
