RiffTrax: The Game changes
With RiffTrax: The Game launching in just over two weeks, we've been getting a lot of questions. So we put together a handy little guide to help.
Did we miss anything? Got a burning question for the devs or RiffTrax team? Drop a comment below and we'll do our best to help.
When is the game launching? May 5th!
How much will it cost? RiffTrax: The Game will launch at $9.99 USD/€ 8.99 EUR. As is tradition, a 10% launch discount will be available for the first week.
How is this any different from What The Dub?! For players familiar with WTD, these are the key improvements RiffTrax offers:
- EmoteOverhauled multiplayerSupports remote games, cross play, and in-app voice chat
Gameplay improvements like ranked voting and expanded/new SFX
Expanded Twitch integration and new moderation options
Two gameplay modes (Write a Riff and Pick a Riff)
Includes over 2,000 new riffs written and performed by the RiffTrax team.
The addition of Riff Bot™ allows you to add a computer-controlled Riffer to your 3-5 player games
Riff Bot™ enables voting in 2 player games (something that was highly requested)
250 new clips - including clips from licensed/non public domain sources (WTD clips were strictly public domain)
The Steam version will also support custom clips ːsteamhappyː
How many people can play? Up to six players can enter riffs and vote. An additional twelve audience members can vote. If you’re a streamer, you can enable Twitch Chat Voting and allow your entire chat to vote!
How do I play with friends? In RiffTrax: The Game, players have a few options when it comes to multiplayer.
Local Play - Simple! Get everyone in the same room and start a new game. Hope you have a huge couch because the game supports up to six players and twelve audience members.
Remote/Cross Play - Remote games allow owners of the game to host and join games from their platform of choice, no screen sharing, or streaming needed. You can even host local players from your remote setup too!
Steaming - You stream the game. Simple. Oh, and if you plan on streaming, tag us on Twitter (@WideRightGames). We'd love to share it.
What films are included in the game? The initial batch of over 250 clips were pulled from more than 60 feature and short films. We’ll have a full film list posted soon. We also included the film titles during clip playback, so you’ll always know what film you’re watching.
Supported OS? At launch we will be supporting Windows 10 and macOS 10.13 or higher. M1 Macs may use the Mac Intel build. A standalone Apple silicon version is coming later this year.
Install Size Right now our launch version is weighing in at around 1.75 GB.
Linux Support? At this time we have no plans to officially support Linux. However, it may work with a version of Proton, but no native Linux support is planned at this time.
Plans for new content? I’m happy to announce that we’ll be adding over 100 new clips to RiffTrax: The Game shortly after launch. This expansion will be a free update. You can expect more content updates later this summer.
How can I support the game? Right now, we'd appreciate if you wishlist the game. If you're on Twitter, give us a follow. Thanks!
