Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator changes
We’re back with another dev update to let you know how development is going. This Steam News post is all about our upcoming Video Game Rental Update. Development is going great, and we’re still on track to release the free update this fall as planned. Our focus is on delivering this update to it's maximum potential, which means we won't be releasing any smaller updates before then. We thought it was time to share a sneak peek of some of the exciting features we've been working on.
The Golden Age of Video Games
Let’s kick things off by officially revealing the two video game consoles coming to Retro Rewind: the Super Tenko and the Saga Origin. If you grew up in the ’90s, you’ll probably recognize the inspiration behind these classic systems. Super Tenko

Back then, gaming was simple and fun. You invited a friend over for some split-screen action and you sat way too close to the TV because wireless controllers weren’t a thing yet. If a game refused to load, all you had to do was blow into the cartridge and somehow that usually did the trick. Those really were the good old days...
When the update launches, you’ll be able to rent out both video game consoles and their games, with thousands of titles available to build your rental collection. The update will also include a wide selection of video game new releases, all inspired by some of the favorite games of the ‘90s.
To display your collection, you’ll be able to purchase dedicated video game shelving. You will also get the chance to decorate your store with tons of new gaming merchandise.
There's a New Shop in Town!
A new business is opening just down the road from your video store: Tech Shed Electronics! Steam post image
Don’t worry, they’re not here to steal your customers. Tech Shed specializes in TVs, electronics, and other gadgets, but they also have a small selection of video games for sale. The store will become your go-to destination for purchasing new games as you expand your rental collection.
Tech Shed also offers repair services for damaged VHS players and gaming consoles. When a customer returns a broken system, you will be able to have it repaired quickly to get it back on your shelves in no time. Steam post image
We’ll have more to share as we get closer to release, so stay tuned. If you’re new to the Retro Rewind community, we’d love to have you join our Discord! Feel free to ask questions, share your feedback, or just hang out. Our moderators and community members are always happy to help and chat with fellow video store owners.
Thank you for following the development of Retro Rewind and for supporting our project. We can’t wait to get the Video Game Rental Update into your hands this fall!
