Hello my friends,

Today we’re happy to announce that RESISTOR has been selected to feature in The Storyteller’s Festival 2024, a special Steam event highlighting the very best in narrative focused games organised by the kind folks at Two and a Half Studios. You can check out the full line up of featured games HERE

To celebrate we thought we’d share some more details on how we’ll be approaching storytelling in our CARPG.

The Great Divide - Types of exploration

When you're not earning high scores on the track, you'll have plenty of opportunity to explore the world of RESISTOR in your custom ride, discovering numerous settlements and interacting with the communities that inhabit them to propel the story forwards. Essentially your experience will be split between turbocharged racing in the open-world and more thoughtful on-foot exploration in these more contained areas. One such settlement is ‘The Rig’ a disused oil platform that acts as the focal point for the first area of the map, The Northern Wastes.

The central narrative in RESISTOR is built around multiple branching storylines that will intersect and change depending on how Aster interacts with the various characters and citizens encountered in the settlements. You’ll be able to recruit drivers and staff to your team, learn more about the history of the world, and undertake side missions to boost your growing reputation.

Telling The Story - Types of interactions

NPC interactions are presented through cinematic mini-scenes that are fully voiced for an extra level of immersion.

Often, these interactions will involve helping the locals and communities of the wastes. For example, the kids hanging out in the playground on ‘The Rig’ would love to see Aster perform a corkscrew just like their hero, Turbo Taylor. Head back out into the sands, complete the trick, and Aster will have gained a few new adoring fans.

Other interactions might require Aster to make a choice which, depending on Aster's decisions, may have serious consequences that could change the story's trajectory…

These consequences could drastically alter the course of Aster's tale, leading to some dramatic twists and unexpected turns later down the line (but ssshhhh we didn’t tell you that!).

That’s all for today, rest assured though we’ll be back with another update soon.

Thanks as always for the continued support.
