HI Witches!
We're excited to announce that our latest update is now available for everyone to enjoy!
This update contains a huge batch of quality-of-life improvements for REKA, alongside plenty of bug fixes and polish across the game. While many of these features were originally planned for the 1.0 release, we felt they were too exciting to keep locked away any longer.
Important Notice!!
After updating the game and loading an old save, you'll notice that your map has been reset/reloaded as if you have travelled onwards. But don't worry! While certain quests may be reset, your overall save game, your hut, and your inventory will be unaffected.
What's Included in the Update?
Major UI Overhaul
We've reworked and improved many of REKA's menus and interfaces to make them easier to use. This includes improvements to:
Main Menu | Options Menu | Save Menu | Character Creation | Journal | Minimap | Workshops & Crafting | House Building | And more!
Please note these UI improvements are not finalised, and there is still more to come for 1.0!
Improved World Interaction UI
A brand-new interaction overlay makes it much easier to spot and understand objects, items, and interactions throughout the world, improving accessibility and overall usability.
House Building Overhaul
House building has received some major upgrades:
More freedom with building blocks! (almost all furniture can be flipped and placed on any surface to allow for more creative builds) | Smoother placement and more reliable building physics | House Building and Decorating are now separated into dedicated modes | Undo and Redo functionality | Free-float building camera | General improvements to the building experience
Loot & Progression Improvements
General loot balancing pass | Adjusted item rarities and rewards throughout the world
NPC Improvements
Major improvements to NPC AI and behaviour
World Generation Updates
Significant improvements to environment generation | More variety and consistency across the world
Story & Exploration Updates
Adjustments to overall story pacing | More diverse locations where sick animals can be found
General Improvements
The "Back to Main Menu" button has returned | Performance and optimisation improvements | Localisation fixes and improvements | Numerous bug fixes and stability updates
Looking Ahead
While this update brings a huge number of improvements, there are still a few bugs lurking around the world of REKA that we're continuing to work on as we head toward 1.0. We'll be using all of the feedback you've shared so far to continue polishing, fixing, and improving the game over the coming months.
