changedWe’ve been busy these last few years refining a raw torrent of ideas into what is now the final vision of Refactor. Systems have been streamlined, interfaces unified, gameplay progression mapped, cutscenes storyboarded and graphics upgraded. It took longer than expected but Refactor is really becoming a game of its own, and it’s a unique one!
addedWhen we first started Refactor, we were using version 4 of Unity. Unity has produced 4 new versions since then and we’ve been keeping pace. Taking advantage of the new features, we were able to increase visual fidelity and add improved visual effects without taking too much of a hit to performance. Not only does it look better, it also runs better. Cross platform support has been great, so we’re on track to launch on the PC (+linux/mac), PS4, Xbox One and, recently announced, the Nintendo Switch.
changedWe’ve been hard at work on the content of Refactor. Roughly 50% of the content of the game is beta ready and we’re looking for volunteers to help playtest and QA the first half of the game. We intend to do three different phases of testing: the first phase at 50% of content, the second with 75%, and the final with 100% of the game completed. If you would like to play a fuller version of the game but would still like to participate in the beta, you’ll have the opportunity to say so in the invite form!

In order to participate in the beta, you must be at least 18 years old and willing to sign our Beta Tester Agreement. A copy of the agreement will be sent along with the beta invite acceptance email. You can apply to the beta by filling out and submitting this form: https://forms.gle/FHd71dMcnn8HjdzT6

We have an active official Discord Server that everyone is welcome to join! We’ll be coordinating the beta over Discord as well as sharing development updates and answering questions from the community. You can join the NextGen Pants Discord server here: https://discord.gg/eVVecRg

Don’t forget, if you haven’t already, you can wishlist Refactor and get notified when it is released. This also helps us out by increasing the visibility of the game before launch, which we deeply appreciate!

Thank you all for being so patient with our little weird game. Your support is always appreciated and let’s make 2020 the year of Refactor!

Sincerely,

The NextGen Pants Team
