addedReaper Actual Major Update Version 1.4.0This is our first major update adding new content including opening up the full map for exploration, vehicles that can be driven (squadmates can ride as passengers), and we have done a huge rework of NPCs and spawns. The main map is updated with squadmate markers and locations, and a lot of clean-up has been done to the map (say goodbye to the asteroid at the south-west gas station. Check out the new GPS tool that shows a minimap and find your squadmates nearby. There is also a ton of optimization work that has been done since 1.3.4 making this not just incremental, but a leap forward in the experience, thus 1.4.0. NOTE: Exploration around Marova will cause you to ultimately see a LOT of WIP items. If it's out of KAM, the path to Alaria, or Alaria itself, please consider these non-issues FOR NOW. With vehicles in place and available, we expect you will explore the world, just know that Marova at large is still under heavy construction.

Reaper Actual Major Update Version 1.4.0

This is our first major update adding new content including opening up the full map for exploration, vehicles that can be driven (squadmates can ride as passengers), and we have done a huge rework of NPCs and spawns.

More to do and More to Explore

  • Alaria is OPEN for exploration and is now active for in-world activities and events. Deploy straight to Alaria from your base or traverse your way there across the terrain (but we warned, the roads are guarded!).

  • Vehicles are in! Find them scattered around the world, hop in and drive around! Squadmates can ride along as passengers.

  • New GPS tool: an item that can be equipped in a Tool slot that toggles your minimap on and off. It can be found as loot.

Enemies & Loot

  • The world is far more populated: the airport, Alaria, and the highway between zones are now held by rival factions with patrols, checkpoints, tower holds, and roadside ambushes.

  • A release-day loot pass spread containers across the new areas - common supplies, ammo caches, and a couple of legendary finds - with the better rewards placed in the more dangerous, contested spots.

  • Garrisoned checkpoints along the corridors now have loot inside their buildings (some previously had none).

  • Alaria's metro stations now drop you in at several randomized spawn points instead of just one.

  • Player bodies and the loot they drop now stick around for several minutes after a kill, giving you time more to loot or recover items.

  • Enemies now notice and attack you while you're driving.

Tweaks

  • The out-of-bounds barrier is now off by default — no more "Leaving Mission Area" warning or death timer pushing you back into the play zone.

NPCS

  • NPCs have been revamped. You should not be mob squaded after exiting your base (especially if you have a Warehouse base)

  • They should be more plentiful in the world, and respawn more reliably

  • Animations for them should be cleaner at a medium distance

Vehicles

  • Vehicles are in and have been constantly improved since the last patch. Behind the scenes, they drive better: higher top speed without losing low-speed control, with grippier, more planted handling and better grip through hard corners.

  • Much smoother to drive online — far fewer jarring snap/teleport corrections, including when the server is under load.

  • Smoother steering on keyboard: the wheels ease in and recenter instead of snapping instantly to full lock.

  • Improved follow camera while driving (steadier, no longer pitches with the vehicle over bumps).

  • Vehicle audio added: engine start / running / stop, doors, horn, and gear shifts, positioned in 3D so they fade with distance.

  • Drivable vehicles are placed around Marova — several spots that used to have static, non-drivable props now have vehicles you can drive and there are a few Easter Egg locations, as well as vehicles in Alaria so you can drive back to your base in KAM.

Map Updates and GPS Device

  • Your squadmates now appear on the main map as live, named markers that follow them as they move (and show their last-known spot when they're far away).

  • The main map now shows every base location and extraction point across the whole island, with names on hover. Sewer and manhole exits are clearly labeled and now work as extractions back to base.

  • A new GPS Device has been added and can be equipped in one of the Tool slots (the tool tip is currently incorrect but will be fixed in a future patch). The GPS Device gives you access to a minimap that can show your location as well as your squadmates if they are close by.

Social, Friends & Squads

  • A new unified Social screen brings your squad, friends, nearby players, and Steam/Epic friends together in one place — invite, accept, decline, and manage your squad without bouncing between menus.

  • Your Steam/Epic friends list now shows who owns Reaper Actual, who's in-game right now, and what they're playing, with filters to narrow the list.

  • Cleaner presentation: friends show "Marova" as their location instead of a raw ID, and the Social window text is tidier.

Controls & On-Screen Prompts

  • On-screen prompts, the HUD, and the key binding screen now show the actual key images for your bindings, and they're correct from the moment you spawn.

Smoother Performance

  • Big improvement to frame rate in larger fights through more efficient handling of distant enemies.

  • Lighting and vegetation were optimized for better performance.

  • Smoother frames when a lot is happening on the network at once.

  • Greatly reduced hitching and stutter while moving around Marova Island.

  • Further reduced occasional hitches and stutters during play.

World & Visual Polish

  • General map cleanup and landscape touch-ups across the island.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a crash that could happen when leaving Marova Island while the map was still loading in.

  • Fixed a reliable crash when loading into your base.

  • Fixed players getting stranded after a server reset during matchmaking — the game now recovers instead of getting stuck on the loading screen.

  • Fixed deploying to Alaria's metro stations.

  • Fixed the extraction smoke flares not showing up at Alaria's metro stations.

  • Removed an incorrect metro-station marker.

  • Your squad list no longer goes empty when entering or leaving your base — it stays filled in as you travel.

  • Fixed squadmates seeing loot that had already been picked up.

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when vehicles spawned or despawned nearby.

  • Fixed your character sitting up too high in the seat when entering a vehicle while crouched or prone.

  • Fixed vehicles jittering or shaking while parked.

  • Fixed getting stuck with no controllable character ("No possessed pawn") while driving – a vehicle you're riding is no longer removed out from under you, and you're safely put back on foot if it's ever taken away.

  • Fixed a couple of vehicle spawn points that placed vehicles in midair or on top of parked cars.

  • Fixed player nameplates bending or flickering while riding in a vehicle.

  • Enemy spawning is more reliable — areas that used to go quiet now repopulate as they should.

  • Fixed mid-range enemies that could look like they were stuttering at a distance.

  • Fixed the issue where ESC sometimes wouldn't close your inventory.

  • Fixed a steadily worsening slowdown during sustained combat caused by weapon effects piling up.

  • Cleared up dark patches that were pooling under and around plants.

  • Fixed grass poking through the floors and walls inside buildings.

  • Distant buildings in the Seaside area now render properly instead of popping in late or not at all.

  • Fixed a brief flicker and hitch where some surfaces could momentarily show the wrong material.

  • Removed leftover placeholder text labels that were visible out in the world.

  • Removed floating geometry near the warehouse and at a road outpost.

  • Removed the stray giant rock (the Asteroid) sitting on top of the Area 15 gas station – we will remember, and there may be t-shirts commemorating this iconic Foundation Alpha moment in the future.

Known Issues

  • NPCs can't be run over with vehicles (yet) - this fix is in testing

  • Chat duplication

  • Reduced performance in downtown Alaria

  • Some loot boxes may be uniquely placed

  • You MAY experience, upon exit of a vehicle, that your arms are gone. Just reload/move/anything to get them back.

  • The paths to Alaria (and Alaria itself) are still under construction. You will see unfinished buildings, sometimes hanging flags, even random lights, etc. You may also see debug text. These are known and, in the queue, to be fixed.
